Psychiatrist needed / Part time Detention center in Brooklyn Job Description/Scope of Work: We are looking for a psychiatrist to join the Health Services Department at a detention center in Brooklyn. The Psychiatrist will conduct examinations on patients scheduled by the institution's medical staff. Responsibilities include conducting psychiatric evaluations and making referral recommendations for inmates. Each workday will consist of eight (8) sessions, totaling two (2) workdays per week (16 sessions + unpaid half-hour lunch). The candidate will have eight (8) sessions to complete a workday. Clinics will typically be scheduled between the hours of 7:30 am and 4:00 pm (including an unpaid ½ hour lunch) on Tuesdays and Thursdays, excluding federal holidays. The scheduled days will be mutually agreed upon. Responsibilities: The candidate shall provide psychiatry services conforming to all local, state, and federal laws and regulations applicable to psychiatric care. Services will adhere to Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, Inc. ( AAAHC ) standards and Bureau of Prisons (BOP) policies. Direct entries into the inmates' Bureau of Electronic Medical Records ( BEMR ) are required, documenting patient history, findings, assessment, treatment plans, and follow-up recommendations. Services provided will meet AAAHC standards and local medical practices, subject to periodic review by the Health Services Administrator (HSA) and Facility Point of Contact (POC). The HSA retains professional responsibility for referred patients, while the candidate must adhere to all applicable regulations and guidelines during service provision. The Government may evaluate service quality but retains no control over medical, professional judgments, or specific treatment decisions. JOB DESCRIPTION: The Certified Nursing Assistant works directly under the supervision of the Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and performs duties in a relation to the personal needs of the resident, care of supplies and equipment, and maintaining the cleanliness, comfort and safety of the resident in his/her environment. REPORTS TO: Charge Nurse, Supervisor and Director of Nursing Services (DNS) Ability to comprehend and follow verbal and written instructions. Ability to write legibly. Physically able to perform the required duties of a Certified Nursing Assistant. Experience as a Nursing Assistant in an acute care or long-term care setting. RESPONSIBILITIES: Residents Provides or assists with bed bath, tub bath, whirlpool and showers. (Supervises safety of same.) Provides personal grooming: i.e. hair, nails, shaving, personal clothing, mouth care, perineal care. Prepares laundry for pick-up and return. Checks resident's body for skin care: i.e. rash, any discoloration or edema. Feeding and Assisting with Feeding (when necessary) Provides calm, pleasant environment. Engages in cluster feeding while seated. Monitors daily intake and keeps nurses informed. Records food intake on Nutrition Work Sheet. Making Beds Uses recommended amount of linen and diapers Disposes of linen in proper manner. Properly utilizes clean and dirty linen carts. Secures call bells to bed. Beds are made in proper manner. Knowledgeable in procedure for linen precaution. Safety of Residents: Restraints are to be properly applied and released and removed every two (2) hours for at least 15 minutes. Make sure, if restraint is used, that it was indicated on assignment and the proper type is applied. Restraints are checked at the beginning and end of each shift. Supervises ambulation of resident when needed. Proper attention is given that side rails are up on bed when needed. Completes dining room duty as posted by charge nurse. Is alert for spills on floor. Answers call bells as soon as possible. Makes rounds frequently. Reports need for repair and safety matters to charge nurse. Rehabilitation: Assists in ambulation, transfers, ROM exercises and good body alignment where indicated. Uses adaptive devices properly. Cooperates with all rehab disciplines. Keeps accountability sheets up to date with signatures as required. Has knowledge of proper procedure. Records results. Informs nurse of results. Assignments: Receives daily report from nurse. Consults assignment for special duties and sets proper priorities for following through on assignment. Is familiar with and takes proper action in meeting physical needs of resident. Routinely checks and keeps in order all residents' belongings: i.e. clothing, glasses, hearing aid, prosthesis aid, adaptive devices, etc. Ensures that residents on turning schedule is positioned every two hours or as ordered, and documented. Ensures that residents on toileting schedule are assisted as needed, and documented. Resident is kept clean and dry. Gives assistance to co-workers when needed. Uses good handwashing techniques. SUMMARY Under general supervision, is responsible for providing medical treatment, first aid, emergency care and medications for students in the school programs, under the direction of a Registered Nurse and in accordance with company policies, the regulations and requirements of applicable regulatory agencies and the standards of the profession. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The duties and responsibilities of the Licensed Practical Nurse - Children's Services will include, but are not limited to the following: Serves and participates as a member of interdisciplinary team. Is responsible for assisting Registered Nurse in coordinating and following through on provisions of health care services for students in program. Keeps progress notes under supervision of registered nurse for each student and summarizes for quarterly, semi-annual and annual reviews. Provides regular and PRN health care to students receiving services as instructed by registered nurse. Provides direct hygiene and health instruction to staff, students receiving services and families as required. Handles control of communicable diseases and infections through identification and assessment. Reports to consulting physician and Infection Control Nurse. Implements appropriate protective and preventive measures. Provides staff training in regard to infection control regularly and as needed. Provides first aid to students in need of immediate care, with referral to registered nurse, private physician or outside emergency services as necessary. Monitors required staff health records and provides tests in accordance with regulatory agency requirements. Keeps up to date and accurate records of examinations, immunizations, illnesses, accidents and other pertinent data of students via progress notes. Administers medications as prescribed. Supervises secured storage of medications. Refers all consults and diagnostic reports to registered nurse for review. Transports students to appointments as necessary. Maintains Nursing Office. Orders supplies and equipment as required. Visits students at home as requested by Director or designee. Keeps abreast of changes in Nursing Services field. SCHEDULE: 3pm-7pm 5 days per week with rotating weekends. Berkshire Center is a skilled nursing facility located in West Babylon, NY. Our mission is to provide the highest level of care for each of our residents. We are looking for an experienced LPN that can provide a high level of care. This is a union position. JOB DUTIES: The purpose of your job as a Licensed Practical Nurse is to perform a variety of care practices under the direction of the Registered Nurse and/or Supervisor of the unit/shift. This includes, but not limited to: Take and record measurements of blood pressure, temperature, heart rate etc. Observe residents under treatment to identify progress, side-effects of medications etc. Monitor residents’ condition including fluid intake and output and compose patient charts. Administer injections, prescribed medications, enemas etc., clean and dress wounds. Collect samples for lab testing as assigned. Provide emotional and psychological support when needed. Communicate with residents’ family or friends to provide advice, comfort, and release instructions. QUALIFICATIONS: Please do not apply if you cannot meet the shift requirements (5 days per week and must be able to arrive at 3pm) Nursing home or LTC experience required Currently licensed by the State of New York.. Possesses attention to detail and observation skills that enable the recognition of condition changes in the resident.
