Pay Range: $19.32 - $24.13 Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 Position Overview Prepares patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature; reporting patient history summary. Cleans exam rooms, obtains lab specimens. Assists the physicians and other staff as needed. Selects appropriate equipment prior to collection to streamline process. Verifies specimen orders per department policy Prepares exam rooms for patient encounters and assists LIP as requested. Maintains appropriate levels of supplies and all relevant forms for any testing performed and maintains statistics as assigned Performs thoroughly all clerical duties as needed, including but not limited to patient registration, answering phones, scheduling appointments, initiating, maintaining and filing medical records and timely distribution of reports. Performs electrocardiograms and other relevant tests including point of care testing following established policies and procedures and universal precautions. Verifies patient information by interviewing patient; recording medical history; confirming purpose of visit. Documents medical information in electronic medical records including medication and refill information and patient call documentation, keeps rooms stocked and organized. Organizes paperwork and filing. Coordinates with front office personnel and ancillary staff in professional and positive manner in adherence of policies and procedures in support of patient service. Assists in front office functions as assigned including but not limited to: Checkout/in duties with claim creation and assuring complete process of discharge paperwork, referrals, patient education, appointments, insurance eligibility etc. Performs other selected clinical and clerical duties that assist in the delivery of primary health care and patient care management within any CH office location under the direction of a provider and manager in accordance with the objectives and policies of Capital Health (CH) and respective state laws governing such action and activities. Cross-trained to perform Patient Reception Rep job duties as needed. New Jersey Prescription Monitoring Program (NJPMP)- uploads a notarized "request for access" form and a copy of their State-accepted Certified Medical Assistant certificate; performs NJPMP monitoring under the direction of the LIP (Licensed Independent Practitioner). Performs injections, subcutaneous or intramuscular; performs duties in accordance with Capital Health policies. Performs other duties as assigned. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Graduate of a post-secondary medical assisting education program accredited by the National Healthcare Association (NHA), or its successor, The Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation of the American Medical Association (CAHEA), or its successor; Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES), or its successor; or any accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. The educational program shall include, at a minimum, 330 clock hours of instruction and shall encompass training in the administration of intramuscular and subcutaneous injections and instruction and demonstration in: pertinent anatomy and physiology appropriate to injection procedures; choice of equipment; proper technique, including sterile technique; hazards and complications; and emergency procedures. A Brief Overview This RN position requires 12 months of previous RN work experience. It is 8a-4:30pm The Oncology Clinic and Day Hospital is in the Buerger Center for Advanced Pediatric Care. Outpatient Oncology sees an average 100 patients per day, Monday-Friday 0730am-9pm. The clinic is closed on weekends and holidays however there is a phone triage nurse staffed every day, including holidays. Nurses partner with attending physicians, fellows and APPS to provide care to the patient population. Other areas within the clinic include, the general anesthesia procedure and recovery area, as well as day hospital infusion area. Bone marrow aspirates and lumbar punctures are performed daily therefore all nurses are PALS certified. The day hospital cares for both hematology and oncology patients, administering blood products and chemotherapy. Oncology clinic also functions as the ER for the oncology population daily until 6pm. All staff are proficient in PIV placement and central line care. This is a fast-paced dynamic area to work in with opportunities for growth and professional development. The Clinical Nurse practices at the level of an advanced beginner to expert practitioner of professional nursing in accordance with, and guided by the CHOP Nursing Professional Practice Model. What you will do Clinical Practice Follows the nursing process to deliver safe, compassionate, and culturally effective care. Gathers and recognizes/synthesizes assessment data to determine the patient/family plan of care, pertinent data to be shared with care team, and tasks to be delegated. Recognizes and/or seeks resources to recognize clinical changes that are indicative of patient deterioration; utilizes the CAT team when appropriate. Collaborates with the patient, family and multidisciplinary team to coordinate all facets of patient care. Develops, implements and/or revises the patient’s plan of care on admission and during the course of the hospitalization. Plans of care are outcomes focused and include goals as well as required interventions. Plans are developed in partnership with the patient, family, and the interdisciplinary care team. Care is coordinated across the continuum – understands and utilizes case management resources. Consistently follows evidence based practice bundles and nursing standards/procedures to provide nursing care that eliminates preventable events of patient harm and promotes excellent patient outcomes. Recognizes and addresses situations which present ethical dilemmas and/or moral distress. Takes steps to actively address the situation. Seeks resources as needed to resolve the situation. Demonstrates competence in teaching patients/families and progresses to an expert educator of patients/families. Evaluates and documents the care provided on each assigned shift. Education Qualifications Technical Diploma Nursing Required Bachelor's Degree Nursing Preferred Experience Qualifications At least one (1) year RN experience.
