Job Description Great New Rates Nemours is seeking a Registered Nurse- CVOR to join our team in Wilmington, DE. NEW SHIFT DIFFERENTIAL INCENTIVE!! Responsible for the delivery of safe, effective, and quality patient-family centered care in the operating room for all patient populations. This primary position at Nemours Children’s Hospital, Delaware This position requires active registered nurse (RN) licensure in Delaware and may require Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. This position requires working shifts aligned with the needs of the department and the assigned FTE of the RN. This position also includes on-call and holiday requirements based on the needs of the department. Position Responsibilities Provides age-specific, culturally competent, and ethical care within legal standards of practice. Assesses patient’s immediate pre-operative, intraoperative, and immediate post-operative status at intervals in compliance with organizational policies/procedures. Develops an individualized perioperative patient plan of care. Protects the patient from injury caused by extraneous objects and chemical, electrical, laser, mechanical, and thermal sources. Performs accounting procedures to protect the patient from unintended retained surgical items in compliance with organizational policies/procedures. Performs interventions necessary to ensure that the patient’s procedure is performed on the correct site, side, and level. Manages patient specimens according to organizational policy and procedures. Communicates the patient status to relevant parties throughout the continuum of care. Provides/administers medications safely and correctly in compliance with organizational policies/procedures. Performs interventions to maintain the patient’s wound and tissue perfusion at or above baseline level. Performs interventions to ensure the patient is at or returned to normothermia at the conclusion of the immediate postoperative period. Performs interventions to protect the patient from surgical site infection. Evaluates patient progress toward attaining outcomes. Our staff care for a variety of patient populations, including cardiac, trauma, gastrointestinal, and psych. To support our staff are Clinical Nurse Managers (CNMs) which help with patient care, through put, and assignments. Nurses who are staffed on Kelemen 9 are required to have Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications, which will allow competent and safe care for our complex patient populations. Experience Required Minimum 2 years acute care experience; Med/Surg preferred Education Requirements Graduate of NLN accredited School of Nursing. License/Certification Requirements Current NJ-RN License (Registered Nurse). Current NJ-BLS Certification (Basic Life Support). These advanced technologies include, but are not limited to, a variety of high frequency ventilation devices, sophisticated neurological monitoring devices, Extra Corporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO), Peritoneal Dialysis, and Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT). CHOP Critical Care Nurses work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to ensure the best outcomes using innovative technologies. The Critical Care areas are equipped to deliver therapies that are aimed toward improving survival, hastening recovery, minimizing disability, and relieving pain and suffering from critical illness and injury in a safe, humane, and respectful manner. Conditions that commonly cause critical illness and injury or require intensive care include respiratory failure, renal failure, severe infection, multi-system organ failure, trauma, extensive surgery or organ transplantation, congenital anomalies, and hematologic or immunological disorders. Critical Care nurses across the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit are active participants in innovative unit-based research as well as organizational research initiatives. There are three distinct units within the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). Unit populations are as follows: PICU South - 24 bed unit with a mixed medical and surgical population serving patients that require Intensive Care with a diagnosis within a variety of medical subspecialties including a specific subset of oncology receiving radioactive therapy. PICU Main - 26 bed unit with a mixed medical and surgical population serving patients that require Intensive Care with a diagnosis within a variety of medical subspecialties PICU West - 24 bed unit predominately focused on Neurocritical Care patients but also will care for all patients that would require pediatric intensive care. This is a full-time position; however, there may be opportunities for part-time based on unit needs at the time of application. Acute care experience (adult or pediatric) is strongly preferred.
