Answers a variety of medical questions or refers them to the doctor or nurse practitioner when necessary. Secure all exam rooms, lab rooms; restock with supplies on a daily basis. Retrieve special orders from Lab and Xray when provider requests. Demonstrate the ability to follow appropriate procedures/production techniques related to the care of patients from newborn - 20 years. Assists Pediatricians and Nurse Practitioners by documenting health related data such as, height, weight, head circumference, blood pressure, urine and chief complaint. Is responsible to provide lead screens and immunizations on well child visits. Maintain updated immunization usage on a monthly basis for State of Connecticut. Licensed Practical Nurse Job Duties/Responsibilities: Must be able to maintain confidentiality in a professional manner. Demonstrate competency in utilizing resources to accommodate cultural needs of patients and customers such as dietary, religious and language needs. Demonstrate efforts to maintain and improve job specific competencies. Incorporates new knowledge into practice. Responsible for providing an even flow of patients for her assigned physician and/or nurse practitioner. Alert physician or nurse practitioner of emergencies and prepares room and patient for doctor. Assist doctor when needed. Responsible for giving allergy shots and observes patient for reactions. Obtain strep cultures of patients, documents and delivers kits to laboratory in a timely manner. Notify all patients with positive strep results and under the direction of the practitioners, calls the pharmacies. Responsible for calling the patient and pharmacy if positive throat culture. Assist the physician with minor procedures as needed such as, PKU, sutures, lumbar punctures. Responsible for managing her assigned physician and/or nurse practitioners' daily patients, through their directives, all call backs, etc. if the abnormalities or positive results of lab, Xray, EKG reports. Advise and answer questions of clients on the phone or in person according to the practices policies and protocols. Retrieve any equipment, special culture kits for the physician when requested. Maintain even distribution of clients to scheduled doctors and rooms. Responsible for ordering medical equipment, supplies and pharmaceutical supplies. Perform other duties as assigned.
