The RN prioritizes all bed assignments by using clinical expertise and assigns Medical teams/Residents for all Medicine admissions. In the absence of the Pre-Cert RN, the Bed Management/Transfer Center Revaluates appropriateness of admission and level of care for all patients and can require a buy-back agreement for patients transferring from outside facilities. Additionally, the RN is responsible for facilitating inter-facility transfers through the Penn Medicine Transfer Center. The RN maintains liaisons with referring facilities, and is familiar with the UPHS clinical and strategic initiatives to triage patients to the appropriate facility.
