Description Job Title: Nursing Attendant-Float Pool-Part Time Night 11pm-7:15am-MSM The Nursing Attendant is an individual who functions in a support role to the Registered Professional Nurse by providing direct patient care and related activities as assigned. Responsibilities Assists the nursing staff in performing selected nursing procedures, treatments, and functional tasks to specific patients including vital signs: Temperature, Pulse, Respirations, Blood Pressure and Pain Rating. Performs procedures associated with activities of daily living, ambulation, mobility, and personal hygiene of the patient. Observes, reports, and records routine and specific patient data, behaviors and responses to treatment on the appropriate flow sheet/EMR. Reports pertinent information and observations regarding patients to the registered nurse Performs procedures related to assuring a safe environment for patients, staff and others. Performs procedures associated with the admission, transfer and discharge of patients. Performs procedures associated with the maintenance of food and fluid intake. Performs procedures associated with excretion of body waste and or loss of fluid. Provides for safe and comfortable lifting, positioning and ambulation of patients in accordance with the principles of good body mechanics. Utilizes mechanical devises as necessary Performs simple applications of heat and cold. Provides care to the body of deceased patients in preparation for removal to the morgue. Provides support to the family/significant others. Secures property. Obtains, assembles and maintains equipment for use during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Assists members of the health care team with physical exam and other procedures. Conducts purposeful hourly rounding for assigned patients noting: Pain, Position, Proactive Toileting and Possessions Participates in the patient belonging process, including reporting of valuables to the RN and documenting accordingly. Transports patients by wheelchair, stretcher or bed, and escorts ambulatory patients. Performs errands away from the area of assignment to implement the care of patients Including transporting stat specimens and/or obtaining supplies as necessary. Maintains a clean uncluttered and tidy environment. Maintains equipment and cleans as necessary. Stocks supplies. Works in a safe manner and provides for the safety of patients and other employees. Utilizes aggression control measures in the care of patients who are verbally or physically threatening. Assists the RN with the application of restraints as required. Performs patient observations for Safety, constant/One to One and/or every 20 minutes checks of assigned observation status. Communicates information and basic instructions to patients, families, and visitors Supports the mission, vision, philosophy and goals of the Department of Nursing and The Mount Sinai Health System. Attends ongoing staff development as assigned to maintain appropriate knowledge base and skills and to meet regulatory requirements. Attends unit staff and educational meetings. Completed training as a medical assistant or nursing assistant or equivalent training or experience. Prefer relevant experience in an inpatient health care setting. Description The Clinical Nurse for the Mount Sinai nursing float pool is a Registered Professional Nurse who provides safe, competent quality care based on nursing theory and research to a designated group of patients on a variety of assigned units. Responsibilities Patient Care 1. Delivers patient care by incorporating the tenets of the professional practice model of Relationship Centered Care and through the application of the nursing process based upon theory, research, evidence-based practice, and approved organizational nursing standards. 2. Description The Medical Assistant II provides clinical office support to physicians and surgeons and performs patient care and administrative duties necessary to deliver quality patient care. Mentors and assists less experienced staff members. Responsibilities Fulfills patient care responsibilities as assigned which may include: performing venipuncture and/or EKGs, checking schedules and organizing patient flow; accompanying patients to exam/procedure room, assisting patients as needed with walking, transferring and dressing, as well as collecting and processing specimens and point of care testing, preparing for exam, etc. Assists physicians with various procedures, takes vital signs, relays instructions to patients and or families; answers calls and provides pertinent information. Attend monthly nurse-led meetings and other team meetings as they arise to support effective communication and collaboration. Provides health education to patients through individual or group sessions when appropriate and documents sessions clearly, accurately, and concisely using the designated form. Assist patients in the coordination of their outpatient appointments as needed. Supports the informed consent process by helping patients understand procedures and treatments under the direction of the provider. Knows Baker Act (Florida Only) Delivers clinical nursing care in a safe, competent, and professional manner in accordance with established standards and protocols. Adheres to established standards of nursing practice and organizational policies. Completes required onboarding and annual training within designated timeframes and attends monthly clinical services training or other training as scheduled, in accordance with organizational policies and procedures.
