Description Job Summary The Newborn Nursery Nurse Practitioner will care of infants in the Newborn Nursery and will deliver patient care management across the health care continuum from admission to discharge. Overview The UF Health Cardiac Critical Care Service Line includes a 17-bed Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) and a 24-bed Coronary Care Unit (CCU) , united under one leadership team to provide seamless, high-quality care for adult cardiac medicine and cardiac surgery patients from admission through discharge. The CVICU delivers high-acuity critical care, including advanced life-support therapies such as invasive hemodynamic monitoring, mechanical circulatory support (Impella & Intra Aortic Balloon Pump), CRRT, temporary pacing, advanced airway management, and ECMO, while the CCU manages intermediate-level patients from the same population. Patients include those with acute coronary syndromes, heart failure, arrhythmias, cardiogenic shock, post–cardiac arrest, and those recovering from CABG, valve and structural heart procedures (TAVR), PCI, ablations, and pacemaker placement. Nurses are cross-trained in cardiac surgery and cardiac medicine care and supported by a structured professional development pathway that allows progression from intermediate to advanced open-heart and critical care roles.
