Department Operating Room Job Summary The RN in Surgery assumes responsibility for prescribing, delegating and coordinating nursing care to patients in the perioperative environment, including interventions that assist the patient in a conscious or unconscious state. The RN identifies physiologic, psychological, and sociologic needs of the patient, develops and implements an individualized plan of care, coordinates interventions and evaluates outcomes of the patient’s perioperative experience. The RN is legally accountable and responsible for patient care, whether accomplished personally or by another perioperative team member. The RN will be competent to provide patient care following standards set forth in the Florida Nurse Practice Act, SMH, and the department. Required Qualifications - Require excellent written and verbal communication skills. - Require one of the following: minimum of six (6) months previous Operating Room (OR) experience, or graduation from an OR post graduate course or approved Operating Room nurse internship program. - Require basic working knowledge of commonly used computer applications. - Require graduate of an accredited school of nursing or a diploma program. Position Overview We are looking for an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) specializing in Breast Surgery to enhance our multidisciplinary team. In this role, you will work closely with our breast surgeons, oncologists, and other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality care to patients undergoing evaluation, treatment, and follow-up for breast conditions. Patient Assessment Perform initial evaluations, take medical histories, and conduct physical examinations for patients with breast conditions. Care Coordination Develop and manage individualized care plans in collaboration with the surgical team, including pre-operative and post-operative care. Patient Education Educate patients and their families about breast health, surgical options, and recovery processes, ensuring they are well-informed and supported throughout their care journey. Documentation Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient assessments, treatments, and outcomes in the electronic medical record system. Team Collaboration Work effectively with the surgical team, nursing staff, and other healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive patient care. Quality Improvement Participate in quality improvement initiatives, case reviews, and ongoing professional development. Education Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN) or Physician Assistant Studies (PA). Certification Board certification as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) with a focus in relevant specialty areas. Experience Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience as an advanced practice provider, with a preference for experience in breast surgery or oncology. Skills Strong clinical assessment skills, excellent communication abilities, and proficiency in electronic medical record systems.
