Medical Assistant Coral Springs, Florida Role Summary: The Medical Assistant is a specifically trained individual who demonstratesexpertise in dealing with patients during all aspects of care. Performs administrative and clinical duties under the direction of the Physician or Physician’s designee. Your key responsibilities: Remain with physician at all times in the exam room unless asked to step out or sent to schedule a study. Responsible for acquiring results and notifying Physician of results on all interim reports. Draws blood for various lab tests that are sent out. Follow up on results of lab. Attend annual OSHA/Biomedical update meetings and application in the clinical setting of the updates. Practice safety precautions and wear personal protective equipment when needed. Document medications the patients are currently taking, and document any new medications prescribed by our physicians while under our care. This includes the name of the medication, dose and amount prescribed, physician prescribing, instructions, date and nurse’s initials. Documentation of any samples given to patient. Responsible for charting patient’s vital signs, initial weight, and all follow-up weights. Responsible for obtaining all signed permission slips for patients who are radioactive prostate seed implants only. Verify the allergy sticker is complete. Assist or perform catheterization of patients for various simulations. Responsible for reporting or verifying all patient problems as reported. Maintain HIPAA rules and regulations as it applies to patient privacy. Maintain open communication with front desk, Nursing staff, etc. as it applies to: Patient add-ons Patients on treatment breaks Changes in treatment plan Be an active part of the center’s team. Overview Pediatrix Medical Group is seeking an experienced, per diem board certified Neonatal Nurse Practitioner to join our well-established practice in the Tampa Bay area. Responsibilities The team consists of 16 neonatal physicians, 3 pediatricians and 12 NNPs who provide care to patients in the Tampa Bay market.. St. Joseph’s Women’s Hospital in Tampa has a 76-bed Level-IV NICU with over 1000 NICU admissions per year and approximately 5000 births annually. Neonatal coverage extends to Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater, a Level-II NICU with 10 beds and at Mease Countryside in Safety Harbor, a Level-III NICU with 12 beds, and St. Joseph’s South Hospital, a Level-II NICU with 11 beds In addition, the group provides 24 hour in-house delivery room and newborn coverage at all four hospitals The neonatologists provide in-house call at St. Joseph's Women's Hospital Level-IV NICU, and a combination of in-house and back-up call from home for the other three NICUs with either a Neo or NNP providing night coverage. A combination of neonatologists and pediatricians provide normal newborn coverage at the hospitals. Position Responsibilities · Prepares the OR suite appropriately to receive a new admission. · Evaluates, assesses and documents patient’s surgical status. · Assists anesthesia in maintaining intake and output, checks availability of blood products and checks blood products with anesthesia before administering. Document blood administration and assures accuracy. · Demonstrates ability to handle difficult situations, and appropriate usage of safety measures. · Monitors, evaluates and intervenes appropriately with patients receiving conscious sedation. · Competent in application of safety positioning devices, providing ongoing observation, intervention and documentation as per hospital policy. · Maintains thorough knowledge of operation, care and handling of O.R equipment. Demonstrates ability to perform new procedures, skills and routines in specialty areas. · Performs initial vital signs and admission history to include introduction to patient and family. Assessment of chief compliant and notification of physician within 15 minutes of arrival to procedure area. · Obtains and documents an accurate systems assessment at the beginning of each procedure. · Responds to diagnostic data and initiates appropriate action or intervention. · Assesses patient education needs on admission, and psychosocial needs specific to patients age, growth, and development. · Initiates plan of care within eight hours of admission. Establishes priorities for patient care based on patient needs as evidence by completion of assigned duties within shift. · Performs Pre-Operative and Post-Operative care and instruction for each assigned surgical patient during shift. · Performs dressing changes using aseptic technique. · Collects and labels specimens per policy when ordered by physician. · Performs bedside glucose monitoring according to policy, performs ostomy care to include irrigation, appliance usage and reinforcement of teaching. · Inserts intermittent or indwelling urinary catheter using aseptic technique. · Administers oxygen therapy according to physician order. · Transfer patients in/out of the GI station in an efficient manner, by obtaining a complete and correct set of physician orders. Completes documentation of transfer summary. · All other duties as assigned. Qualifications · Current FL RN License · BLS required · CNOR preferred · Minimum of one year of experience scrubbing and circulating through various service lines.
