Job Responsibility Varied days, weekends and holidays required, plus on call required on weekdays, weekends, off shift, and holidays. Shift can start as early as 6:00am and as late as 9:00am. Shift can end as early as 6:30pm and as late as 9:30pm. Applies warm & cold compresses, consistent with facility procedure; Performs irrigations, consistent with Facility procedure; Performs other procedures related to skin care, as necessary. * Administers medications correctly and safely Correctly identifies medication: action; dosage; side effects and implications for the patient; Meets standard on medication administration examination; Demonstrates preparation of local solutions; Demonstrates preparation of I.V drips; Administers and documents medication correctly; Administers IVP medication as per department policy and procedure; Educates patients and significant others related to drug and food interactions. * Participates in patient and family education Provides the patient with an explanation of his/her condition as indicated; Communicates assessment data in an orderly fashion by recording, updating and verbalizing pertinent information to care team members and to appropriate agencies; Recognizes and utilizes health teaching opportunities and resources /materials available for this teaching; Provides for early discharge planning and appropriate referrals for post-hospital care; Evaluates the effectiveness of teaching by feedback from patient/family and documents same. Description Patient Care Associate MSH GP10W Med/Surg FT Nights As an integral part of the clinical care team, the Patient Care Associate is responsible for patient care and support activities promoting patient focused care within the Specialty Service. The Patient Care Associate supports the registered nurse in patient care activities, such as: assisting patient with activities of daily living, collecting specimens and performing procedures; maintaining a safe, clean environment; and other duties as needed. Responsibilities A. Clinical/Technical/Service • Demonstrates the ability to perform clinical/technical/service/administrative tasks • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care, based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and related criteria, appropriate to the age of the patients served in assigned area. • Performs and records patient’s vital signs, such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature and respirations. Documents intake and output and other data as assigned • Obtains patient’s rating on pain scales as a fifth vital sign in all areas except Pediatrics • Performs clinical procedures, such as specimen collection including blood glucose, venipuncture, EKG, application of compression devices, post-mortem care, and maintenance of skin integrity. • Sets up for selected procedures and assists RN’s accordingly. • Assists patient with activities of daily living, such as feeding, bathing and/or toileting. Position Summary To coordinate Medical Assistant work processes and supervises MA's for a Practice. Responsible for overseeing scheduling of staff, providing feedback on job performance, orienting new MAs, and participating in the employment process. Education Associates Degree in healthcare related field preferred and completion of a formal Medical Assistant program that is recognized by the State of New Jersey. Current and valid certification as a certified medical assistant or registered medical assistant recognized by the Board of Examiners such as American Medical Technology (AMT), American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) required. Experience Supervisory experience preferred. Demonstrated clinical proficiency as a Medical Assistant.
