Clinical Manager RN Inpatient Medical Unit

Job Overview The Clinical Manager is responsible for directing and managing the daily operations of a direct patient care department to ensure policies, procedures, and guidelines are being followed; providing clinical expertise, leading department team members in providing developmentally appropriate care and evaluating outcomes; and ensuring compliance with quality and safety initiatives and practices. The Clinical Manager ensures the accomplishment of organizational goals and objectives to improve healthcare performance and patient experience of care in a cost-effective manner. The Clinical Manager is a partner with others in the healthcare leadership team to enhance clinical practice by coaching for performance and promotion of professional growth. Finally, the Clinical Manager provides leadership in managing department team members and patient/family experiences. The Level 9 Inpatient Medical Unit is a dynamic 32 bed medical unit serving primarily pulmonary patient populations from birth to early adulthood. Clinically, we specialize in the areas of chronic ventilation, tracheostomy, asthma, cystic fibrosis, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, pulmonary hypertension and airway management. Shift: Full Time, 40 hours per week. Benefit Eligible Hours: Monday - Friday with some weekend and night shift visibility. More to be discussed at time of interview. Ensures staff and financial resources are utilized appropriately and shifts resources to meet both patient and department needs within budget restraints. Resolves escalated, complex, or controversial operational and patient/family issues, making decisions that are inclusive of multiple perspectives and solves underlying problems. Establishes performance metrics for department. Works with Associate Clinical Managers to achieve department outcomes, performance and professional development standards; identifies opportunities for continual improvement to performance standards. Continuously strives to improve clinical, educational, research, and advocacy programs in department; sets and models high performance standards that empower staff to achieve agreed upon outcomes. Encourages clinically-based research projects to evaluate practice outcomes and mentors department team members in creating/evaluating projects. Selects, trains, develops, and evaluates department team members. Creates a worker-friendly environment that develops and realizes the full potential of department team members. Makes decisions on hiring, terminations, promotions, and disciplinary actions as required, taking into consideration feedback from Associate Clinical Managers. Develops departmental budget recommendations, and monitors expenditures to ensure compliance organizational financial goals. Minimum Qualifications Degrees Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required. Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Master's in Health related field is required Area of Study Nursing Experience Three (3) years of registered nurse experience is required Two (2) years of nursing leadership experience in supervision, leading clinical practice projects, serving as a charge nurse or house supervisor, and/or precepting. Licenses & Certifications BLS/CPR from the American Heart Association with at least 6 months left before expiration is required upon hire. Registered Nurse (RN) license is required. American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or Magnet recognized Certification is required. Salary Information Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience. Job Responsibilities Performs evidence-based nursing care and patient education Performs care management by connecting patients with specialists and following up to ensure patients are getting the care they need Utilizes population management tools to ensure patients receive optimal care based on industry-wide recommendations Provides phlebotomy services, performs in-house laboratory tests and works with the provider to determine how and when to send out specialty labs Screens for vaccine-preventable diseases and administers primary care and travel-related immunizations Manages RN schedule and appropriateness of appointments. Takes initiative to contact patients when needed and demonstrate knowledge of when to consult with a provider Complies with all policies, procedures, and protocols of the practice, including performing specific care under standing orders Provides general triage services to walk-ins and over the phone. Assesses patient’s needs, consult provider when needed and direct appropriate care Provides occasional on-site care at client-sponsored events such as flu clinics and biometric screenings Participates in quality improvement programs to ensure the practice is performing efficiently and in accordance with Crossover’s policies Demonstrates proficiency in the use of healthcare analytic tools, systems, and analysis Participates in implementation of new health technologies, products, services, and programs that establish the Crossover Medical Group as a recognized thought leader for employer-based health care and lifestyle medicine programs Manages population health programs and clinic outreach initiatives Serves as a resource to other nurses and the care team, and participate in the training and onboarding of new nurses Assists in performing Quality and Compliance checks required on a daily, weekly and monthly basis Contributes to reporting requirements related to incident reporting and compliance Performs other duties as assigned.
