Description 3035828: Staff Nurse - Interventional Radiology - Mount Sinai Hospital - Per Diem (Rotating Shift) The (Per Diem) Clinical Nurse is a Registered Professional Nurse who provides safe, competent quality care based on nursing theory and research to a designated group of patients and significant others. Responsibilities Patient Care 1. Delivers patient care by incorporating the tenets of the professional practice model of Relationship Centered Care and through the application of the nursing process based upon theory, research, evidence-based practice, and approved organizational nursing standards. 2. Assesses and evaluates patient care needs and applies critical thinking skills in patient care management. 3. Integrates relevant assessment and intervention skills in the delivery of nursing care. 4. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary healthcare team in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the plan of care. 5. Prioritizes all aspects of patient care including teaching, rounding, coaching, and planning after hospital care and delegating to others as appropriate. 6. Manages assignments within the Care Delivery Model of Modified Primary Nursing and demonstrates allocation of material resources effectively. Patient Experience 1. Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to create and implement quality improvement projects, evidence-based practice activities and nursing research studies. 6. The Hospital for Special Surgery Perioperative Nurse Fellowship Program is for experienced nurses transitioning to practice as the operating room RN. The Hospital for Special Surgery Peri-Operative Nurse Fellowship Program was awarded Accreditation by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s for the Practice Transitions Program (PTAP). The program utilizes evidence-based practices to best onboard new-to-the-operating room RNs into the organization. The program runs for twelve months in length and includes a course designed by the Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses (AORN), called Periop 101. Fellows also train in a mock Operating Room using simulation to build core skills. Clinical orientation lasts six months and adjusts to each learner’s needs. Fellows rotate through all orthopedic subspecialties and learn both scrub and circulating roles. The goal is full clinical competency across the patient population. The Perioperative Clinical Education Specialists and the Fellowship Program Coordinator oversee the clinical orientation process. Frequent check-ins with the fellow, preceptor, clinical education specialists serve to evaluate effective transition and progress throughout the program. RNs that are hired into the cohort are required to meet throughout the year long program. Each meeting will include 1) knowledge building educational component, 2) “shared experience” component and 3) mentorship component, 4) wellness component, 5) assignments and/or project component. Regularly scheduled meetings provide a supportive environment, which allows RNs to gain confidence in their abilities to cope with the day-to-day challenges of their transition to perioperative nursing practice, and are a requirement of the program. OVERVIEW: Under the leadership of the Director of Nursing, supervises the nursing personnel ant the day – to –day nursing activities of the facility RESPONSIBILITIES: · Coordinate and provide total nursing care for patients · Assess resident condition and nursing needs, sets goals, prescribe appropriate actions to meet goals and the age-related, physical, psychological, social, and rehabilitative needs of the resident · Assign care to team members in accordance with the resident’s needs and the personnel’s capabilities and qualifications · Assess and evaluate patient’s response to care plan and prioritize and implement appropriate changes to plan · Collaborate, assess, and coordinate discharge planning needs with other health care team members Oversees clinical and nonclinical acute hospital operations and continuum of REQUIREMENTS: · Valid Registered Nurse License in the State of New York · CPR/BLS certified · Bachelor’s degree in nursing(BSN) · 5+ years nursing experience in a nursing home or other healthcare setting and a minimum 1-year experience as a nurse supervisor 
Position Summary To fulfill the needs of patients in a variety of age groups, their family members, and the community by performing varied patient care tasks and functions in accordance with licensure, certification, training, and regulatory requirements. Skills Physical and cognitive requirements: Position's physical requirements necessitate a full range of body motion including but not limited to, physically assisting patients, requiring stretching, bending, lifting, sitting, kneeling, stooping, standing, walking, pushing and pulling. Position is classified according to the USDOL as Very Heavy Work which is defined as exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. The National Institute of Safety and Health (NIOSH0 guidelines, which recommends that the average worker not lift more than 51 pounds without assistance, will be followed. Manual and finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination are also required as is constant talking and listening in English. Must demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills, including speech clarity, understanding the information relayed, deductive and inductive reasoning skills (the ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense and the ability to combine pieces of information to/from general rules or conclusion respectively). Considerable walking, standing, sitting, reaching, filing, typing and photocopying required. Ability to perform work accurately and pay attention to details, often changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure. Ability to function competently in stressful situations and changing work environment related to changing needs of patients with acute, chronic and complex and/or terminal disease processes. Ability to work cooperatively within health system, multidisciplinary team members (i.e. MD's, Rehab, Respiratory, DI, Laboratory, etc). Ability to utilize effective time management skills to set priorities to perform responsibilities, problem solve and deliver care. What You'll Be Doing The Infusion Center Medical Assistant (MA) supports the clinical and operational functions of the Infusion Center by assisting licensed nursing staff and providers with patient care activities, ensuring efficient patient flow, and maintaining a safe, compliant clinical environment. The MA works under the direction of registered nurses and providers in accordance with state regulations and organizational policies. Prepare patients for appointments, including vital signs, height/weight measurement. Perform phlebotomy and specimen collection Perform EKGs and other basic diagnostic procedures as assigned. Observe patients for signs of distress and promptly report concerns to nursing staff. Reinforce provider and nursing instructions to patients, including post-visit and follow-up guidance. Clean and disinfect patient care areas between visits. Assist with inventory management, ensuring proper stocking of supplies and equipment, tracking, and expiration monitoring of supplies. Accurately document patient interactions, vitals, and procedures in the EMR. Assist with appointment coordination, referrals, and prior authorizations as directed. Provide courteous, compassionate, and professional care to patients and families. Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA. Adhere to safety protocols, including exposure control, incident reporting, and emergency procedures.
