Our Pediatric Heart Transplant program is complemented by the Pediatric Advanced Cardiac Therapies (PACT) program. PACT provides artificial circulatory assist devices as alternatives to or bridges to transplant. These include ECMO, the Berlin Heart and Heart Mate. The Pediatric Transitional Care Unit (TCUP) is a 18-bed unit for infants and children suffering from a variety of conditions or recovering from surgery. Job Description The Adult Medical Transitional unit (30 beds) provides care to a diverse adult patient population with an emphasis on acute and chronic medicine patients. These patients require more frequent interventions (every two hours) and more nuanced nursing assessments. Patients transition from the adult critical care units, Post Anesthesia Care Unit, Emergency Department and acute care floors to this unit, depending on their condition and nursing care needs.
