The section of Critical Care Medicine in the Department of Pediatrics is a multidisciplinary team of attending critical care physicians, advanced practice providers (nurse practitioners and physician assistants), post-doctoral fellows, and research support personnel committed to the care of patients suffering from a life-threatening illness or injury. The Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at Texas Children's Hospital is one of the highest volume programs in the world. The 48-bed unit is comprised of a Neonatal CICU, Pediatric CICU, and a first of its kind, Pediatric Heart Failure ICU. In addition to over 1000 congenital heart operations annually, TCH is home to an active heart failure program, a busy thoracic organ transplantation service, and one of the largest mechanical circulatory support and VAD programs in the world. In the CICU, the candidate will work alongside pediatric critical care and cardiology physician fellows, and will join the existing CICU Faculty encompassing over 30 attending physicians (comprised of individuals who are specialty trained in pediatric cardiology, pediatric critical care, anesthesia, neonatology, and internal medicine), physician Instructors training in pediatric cardiac critical care, and over 15 advanced practice providers. Job Purpose Provides advanced nursing care to patients in a clinical setting in an area of specialization under the direction of a physician. Job Duties Day-to-day care of children with cardiac illness requires critical care. Participation in all CCM Section and CICU educational activities including case presentations, quality reviews, didactic teaching, and core lecture series Active role in education of trainees. Supervision of Fellows. Participation in on-call schedule for the CICU. Liaison and collaboration with stakeholders in CICU, PICU, neonatology, cardiology, and congenital heart surgery. Minimum Qualifications Education Required: For Nurse Practitioner: Master's degree in in Nursing. For Physician Assistant: Master's degree in Physician Assistant Studies. NOTE: Bachelor's degree in Physician Assistant Studies accepted based on terminal degree requirements at time of graduation. Summary The Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Division in the Department of Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children's Hospital is recruiting Inpatient Pediatric Hematology-Oncology Advanced Practice Providers to work in the inpatient setting. Scope of practice: Covers inpatient hematology & oncology patients for either 8-, 10-, or 12-hour shifts during the daytime. Inpatient teams included are Leukemia/Lymphoma/Histiocytosis, Solid Tumor/Neuro Oncology/Vascular, and Hematology consults. Works as part of a multidisciplinary team including an Attending Hematologist or Oncologist to provide care for current and new inpatients on the acute care floor. Participates in multidisciplinary rounds including medical, nursing, and pharmacy personnel to provide optimal patient care. Provides all patient care for assigned patients including but not limited to daily rounding/notes, calling consults, all order writing including chemotherapy, completing admission and discharge planning and paperwork. This includes coordination of care, consenting, and arranging follow up appointments/procedures. Ensures appropriate sign-out of patients under their care. Job Duties Obtain detailed history and perform physical examinations. Perform, order, and interpret diagnostic procedures in accordance with relevant health concerns of the patient.
