This unit cares for any neonate requiring specialized services, those that are born premature, and any neonate on ventilator support greater than 24 hours. The RN administers culturally sensitive nursing care to assigned patients in accordance with ANA standards, the New Jersey Practice Act, The Joint Commission, professional standards, and established hospital and Nursing Department policies and procedures, all grounded in evidence-based nursing practice. The RN utilizes the Nursing Process to provide patient-centered care and evaluates the effectiveness of nursing interventions through analysis of nurse-sensitive indicators and patient outcomes. Care is delivered using a patient-focused model supported by a multidisciplinary approach.
