PRN The Neurosurgical Advanced Practice Professional is a Physician-dependent practitioner responsible primarily for the medical and surgical management of patients admitted to the Neurosurgery Service under the supervision of the attending Neurosurgeon on emergency room call for the day. The APP performs his/her functions based on his/her personal experience and professional judgment and: (1) discussion with the physician; (2) knowledge of physician preference; (3) written protocols developed with the Neurosurgery Program and Munson Medical Center (MMC); (4) written policies of this institution. At the direction of the surgeon, the APP will be responsible for the History and Physical examination, admission notes, daily progress notes, admit and routine orders, daily rounds, consultation notes, ED consult notes and attendance of at least 75% at the Trauma Performance Improvement and 75% of the Neurosurgical Section meetings. Completes appropriate documentation of all evaluations, care, and services rendered in the medical record/Powerchart. Expedites disposition by identifying patient and family issues for referral to appropriate personnel (transportation, housing, psychosocial, financial or caregiver) Performs pre-and post-operative patient education to patients and their families Responds to telephone inquiries on discharged patients and provides appropriate medical care or counseling Communicates with referring or primary care physicians regarding patient care and treatment Rounding and management of inpatients including: monitoring progress, progress notes, ordering daily labs and x-rays, interpretation of labs and x-rays, appropriate consults, floor calls, assessing patients, developing and implementing treatment plans, monitoring the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions by medical staff approved protocols, and discharge activities. Job Description JOIN OUR MUNSON HEALTHCARE TEAM! Munson Healthcare’s Neurosciences team has an excellent opportunity for an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our Neurovascular/Stroke team. Munson Medical Center (MMC), located in Traverse City, Michigan, along with several other smaller spoke affiliates, care for complex neurovascular patients throughout the area via advanced triage software (Viz Ai). MMC is currently a Comprehensive Stroke Center with an Open Endovascular Stroke Interventional Neurosurgery team. The stroke APP will join a collaborative team of multiple physicians and several APPs overseeing the care for our inpatient and outpatient stroke population. In this role, the APP will leverage knowledge of neurological examination, testing and imaging, acute stroke treatment plans, and neurovascular intervention to care for a diverse patient population and full range of hemorrhagic and ischemic stroke disorders. Inpatient Rehab Nursing Assistant

About the unit We are a 64 bed Inpatient Rehab Unit that sees a variety of patients who need to work on both their functional and medical problems. We treat ortho patients recovering from hip fractures, complex knee replacement, back surgery with neurologic involvement, multi-trauma, and other orthopedic issues. We also see neurology patients recovering from stroke, brain and spinal cord tumors, Traumatic Brain Injuries, Parkinson’s, MS, and any cancer diagnosis with functional decline. We also have patients come to our unit who had amputations and other complex medical/surgical issues with functional decline. Patients participate in 15 hours of therapy across the 7-day week. Nursing continues the interventions practiced by the patients in therapy sessions, to continue safe mobility. For many of our patients, Rehab is the key to getting back home with their families. This is a very rewarding unit to work on, as we all get to take part in the progress patients make towards their goal of getting home. Scope of work Provides care to the patient according to the plan of care, unit routine and hospital policy under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Safe transport of patients via wheelchair or stretcher, dispatch services and appropriate documentation of services. Provides the services of an Observer for any patient on a patient care unit who has been assessed to require constant observation, either in person or via remote video monitoring, to maximize his/her safety.
