Overview: In collaboration with patients, families (as defined by the patient) and staff across all disciplines and departments is responsible for performing selected clinical duties including administrative/clerical duties, basic patient care and/or performing administrative tasks associated with patient intake. Responsibilities: Essential Duties: • Accurately interview patient and record patient history and measure and record vital signs such as height, weight, BMI, head circumference, current medications, pulse oximetry level and patient comfort level. • Verify patient information such as, but not limited to demographics, insurance, vitals and medications; complete intake process including verifying and entering patient data into EHR/EPM. • Perform duties such as greeting and assisting patients in a courteous and professional manner, answer telephone and provide information as necessary, verify patient information, etc. • Collect, perform, document, and report results of CLIA waived lab tests including, but not limited to: urine dip, pregnancy tests, finger stick blood glucose levels, fecal occult blood tests, rapid influenza tests, and rapid strep tests. • Collect, prepare and document specimen collection including, but not limited to: blood, urine, stool, and sputum. • Perform clinical duties as assigned including, but not limited to: preparing patients for examinations and /or treatments, assisting provider with exams or procedures, setting up exam or procedure rooms, and preparing instruments for sterilization. • Complete pre visit planning to support the clinical visit. • Administer medications per CUC formulary. • Perform medical acts as prescribed by Standing Delegation Orders. • Dismiss patient at end of clinic visit including completing the orders documented in the orders module, tasks, and patient plan. • Participate in orientation of new employees and attend mandatory meetings. • Work as a team member, interacting with staff, patients and providers to communicate and coordinate patient care and work flow effectively. • Coordinate and manage patient care including communicating test results to patient, assist with pre-certifications, referrals, authorizations, prescriptions and scheduling of patients for clinic, hospital and other ancillary medical treatments and tests. Follow up on diagnostic test to ensure that test have been completed and documentation is completed in EHR. • Perform surveillance programs to include but not limited to complete medical records including labs, authorizations, X-Rays, hospital records and any previous care pertaining to each patient visit • Maintain a clean, functional environment including cleaning and disinfection of equipment, exam rooms and storage areas as per CUC guidelines • As assigned, may serve as a scribe accurately and thoroughly document medical visits and procedures as they are being performed by the provider, including but not limited to the following duties: o Patient medical history and physical exam, o Procedures and treatments performed by healthcare professionals, including nurses and physician assistants. o Patient education and explanations of risks and benefits. o Provider-dictated diagnoses, prescriptions and instructions for patient or family members for self-care and follow-up o Prepare referral letters as directed by the provider • Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: MINIMUM EDUCATION: • Graduation from high school or equivalent. • Medical Assistant Diploma and/or National Medical Assistant Certification verifying graduation from a Medical Assistant Program or equivalent military healthcare experience. MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: • Completion of a medical assistant externship REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Current Health Care Provider Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification through American Heart Association or American Red Cross. Responsibilities: Essential Duties: Oversee assigned staff, including but not limited to, establishing work assignments and priorities in relationship to nursing services available, weekly review and adjustment of timecard, weekly review of time off requests, input for performance evaluations, monitoring orientation of new hires, and coaching and counseling staff in conjunction with NMO,PL, and HR. Performs Nurse Manager-Operation (NMO) duties in absence of NMO. Actively participates in Process Improvement strategies. Provide coaching/mentor of Staff Development of Charge Nurse I and clinical staff. Supports and guides Charge Nurses through administrative and organizational growth. Oversee flow of unit and staffing within the unit and oversees patient scheduling as appropriate. Assess the physical, social and emotional needs of patients and families in clinics. Overview The official job title for this position at PPGT is “Clinician”. The Clinician provides comprehensive reproductive healthcare services to patients at Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas (PPGT). Works as part of the Health Services team in collaboration with Health Services and other team members to meet the clinical needs of patients as outlined in affiliate protocols. Orders, interprets, and records results of clinical tests and consults with supervising physicians as needed. Prescribes medications and makes recommendations for other forms of treatment, including contraception. The Clinician is part of the medical services team providing sexual and reproductive healthcare as outlined in affiliate protocols. Provides services by telehealth and/or in-person visits including: history review, health education, physical exam, counseling, diagnosis, and treatment according to protocols. The Clinician works in partnership with management, Health Services and Chief Operating and Medical Services Officer (COMSO) to provide the highest quality of patient care and excellent patient experience. Overview The official job title for this position at PPGT is “Clinician”. The Clinician provides comprehensive reproductive healthcare services to patients at Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas (PPGT). Works as part of the Health Services team in collaboration with Health Services and other team members to meet the clinical needs of patients as outlined in affiliate protocols. Orders, interprets, and records results of clinical tests and consults with supervising physicians as needed. Prescribes medications and makes recommendations for other forms of treatment, including contraception. The Clinician is part of the medical services team providing sexual and reproductive healthcare as outlined in affiliate protocols. Provides services by telehealth and/or in-person visits including: history review, health education, physical exam, counseling, diagnosis, and treatment according to protocols. Responsibilities • Performs physical examinations with special emphasis on the reproductive system including breast examinations, pelvic/genital, cancer screening tests, diagnosis of sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and other types of more specialized services or procedures as may be indicated by medical policy or protocols (e.g. gender affirming hormone therapy-GAHT). • Orders, and interprets diagnostic studies as indicated and permitted by medical protocols. Performs lab testing per Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) regulations and according to PPGT’s lab manual or manufacturer’s directions. • Provides patient care according to all Medical Standards and Guidelines and/or the specific direction of a supervising physician. Consults with organization COMSO or designee when deviates from PPGT Medical Standards and Guidelines (MS&Gs). • Provides relevant health instruction and education to include family planning, sexual counseling, and principles of health promotion • and maintenance. • Documents exam findings and other clinical aspects of direct patient care into the medical record accurately. • Codes billable services accurately based on medical record documentation using accepted practices, i.e. Evaluation and Management (E&M), Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) and diagnosis codes (ICD-10). • Ensures conformity with the policies and procedures of the affiliate, Texas Medical Practice Act, Physician Assistant Licensing Act, Texas Nurse Practice Act, and rules promulgated under those acts. • Recognizes ethical, legal, and professional issues inherent in providing care to health center patients throughout the life cycle. • Initiates and monitors appropriate follow-up according to PPGT Medical Standards and Guidelines on all abnormal test results and referrals. • Remains well informed about current contraceptive technology and reproductive and sexual healthcare issues. • Develops and maintains a collaborative working relationship with the Health Center Manager and support staff resulting in a team effort in meeting center goals. • Develops a level of time management that is conducive to seeing 3-4 clinician visits per hour meeting productivity goals and expectations. • Takes an active role in managing patient satisfaction by practicing patient centered care and providing exemplary customer service to patients. • Responds to medical emergencies as provided in the medical protocols and is responsible for maintenance of emergency box • May assist in supervising and participating in the orientation and proctoring of new clinicians. • Administers, supplies, or prescribes medications/devices, including injections, per delegated orders of the Pharmacist-in-charge and the Chief Medical Officer as outlined in The Manual of Medical Standards and Guidelines and Pharmacy Manual and as per Title 22, Part 11, Chapter 22 of the Texas Administrative Code. • Maintains an active Prescriptive Authority Agreement which is reviewed with authorizing physician annually.
