RN Supervisor needed-Nursing and Rehab Facility Qualification: Current license as an RN in NYS 3 years nursing experience, with a minimum of 1 year in long term care Demonstrated competence as a nursing practitioner Demonstrated leadership and human relations skills Responsibilities: Coordinates the planning, implementing and evaluating of resident care. Makes daily environmental rounds - identifying and correcting problems. Submits an "RNS Checklist " to ADNS for each unit every month. Makes a daily clinical rounds seeing every resident on report and every resident on precautions. Schedules comprehensive rounds with charge nurse to see and evaluate nursing care on every resident on a regular basis. Oversees that grooming and personal care needs are met on all residents. Reviews, with charge nurses, all required documentation, nursing care plans and transcription of medical orders. Evaluates every new admission and assures nursing care needs are met. Evaluates every resident experiencing an accident/incident and reviews documentation of same. Evaluates every resident experiencing a change of status in health (including transfers to hospital) and reviews documentation of same. Monitors administration of medications and provides corrective in-service for nurses requiring the same. Monitors meals to assure compliance with policies. Assists in the orientation of new staff. Evaluates work performance of nursing staff. Provides disciplinary action and participates in grievances/arbitration. May immediately suspend and/or require staff to clock out and leave the facility for such unacceptable actions as drunkenness, fighting, patient abuse, refusing an assignment, insubordination, etc. Assists in the recruitment, selection, promotion, and termination of employment of nursing personnel. Assures adequate staffing for all units calling replacement staff as necessary. Completes investigation sheets on all accident reports and submits to ADNS. Monitors for adequate supply of oxygen and for proper storage, ordering additional oxygen as needed. Monitors emergency supplies and emergency drug boxes assuring readiness for emergencies. Maintaining work areas in safe and orderly fashion. Maintaining equipment in safe working order by facilitation annual calibration. Using proper body mechanics during treatments of patients and during support activities. Using universal safety precautions. Wearing appropriate protective equipment. QUALIFICATIONS: Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: · Excellent written and verbal communication skills. · Knowledge of the respiratory community. · Skills applicable to clinical discipline. o Knowledge of medical terminology. o Knowledge of respiratory disease and diseases that affect the respiratory system. o Ability to use respiratory therapy equipment. o Ability to exercise judgment and discretion in devising, installing and interpreting rules, regulations, policies, or procedures. o Ability to express ideas and information, clearly, concisely, verbally and writing. o Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, and officials of other departments. · Program development and implementation · Management and administration of therapies as prescribed by a physician and according to the standard procedure. · Preferred experience with the following skilled interventions: o Oxygen weaning therapy o Omni flow – Biofeedback o Group respiratory therapy o Standardized respiratory testing o Aerosol therapy o Incentive Spirometry o Chest physiotherapy o Deep breathing and coughing o Bronchial hygiene therapy o PEP therapy o OPEP therapy o Postal Drainage o Positioning o Oro/Naso-pharyngeal suctioning o Airway clearance/management techniques o Trachea-bronchial suctioning o Tracheostomy care o Spirometry Bedside Testing o CPAP/BIPAP o High-Flow Oxygen o Cardiac Program o Pulmonary Program o 6-minute walk test o 2-minute walk test o Spirometry testing o Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation 10. Education and Experience: · Graduation from an accredited program for Respiratory Therapy preferred · Must possess and maintain a current license in the state of practice as required · Other education and experience may be considered.
