Description UNC Medical Center is hiring New Grad Nurses for the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit- Start Dates in 2027 The CICU provides patient and family centered care with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to medical cardiology patients. The CICU specializes in treatment of acute and chronic heart failure, cardiogenic shock, post cardiac arrest, STEMI and NSTEMI, noninvasive valve repair (TAVR), and vascular patients. CICU nurses are educated to successfully manage and care for patients with advanced hemodynamic monitoring, pulmonary artery catheters, temporary and permanent pacemakers, ventricular assist devices, intra-aortic balloon pumps, continuous dialysis, and undergoing hypothermic care. CICU nurses are also trained to serve on the adult code blue team, rapid response team, and support the cardiac cath lab. It is expected that candidates will have their North Carolina RN license prior to their start date. Nurses who have less than 6 months of RN experience and have graduated less than 12 months before their anticipated start date will qualify for the UNC Medical Center New Graduate Residency program. This program is a yearlong program supporting transition from academia to practice for new graduate nurses. The program is layered on top of orientation to provide mentored clinical relationships which support development as a professional nurse. Description New Graduate RN needed for Acute Burn and Wound Care Unit at UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill, NC. This is a 36 hours/week position, day/night and weekend rotation, with flexible self-scheduling. This position qualifies for an extensive benefit package. 5 East is a 15 - bed Acute Burn and Wound Unit and we function as an extension of the North Carolina Jaycee Burn Center. This unit operates with a 5:1 patient ratio. We care for adult patients who have a burn injury and/or other type of complex wounds. The burn injuries on our unit are acute and generally less than 20% of total body surface area. We provide burn and wound care to these patients from the acute through rehabilitative phase. We also care for overflow patients from other units on the acute care surgical units and occasionally overflow form the acute care medicine units with patients including but not limited to: plastic surgery patients, diabetic wounds, and pressure ulcers. Nurses on 5 East are trained in medical-surgical nursing as well as Burn and Wound care . Our nursing team works with the interdisciplinary team to provide the best possible care for our patients. The team includes physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nursing assistants, physical, occupational and recreational therapists, chaplains, and rehabilitation counselors, social workers and dieticians.
