Description Per Diem Dispensing Nurse – LPN Health Care Resource Center i s looking for a detail oriented and empathetic Licensed Practical Nurse to dispense prescribed medications as part of a treatment team in partnership with Physicians and Nursing Supervisors. The dispensing nurse also shares responsibility of maintaining dispensing equipment, managing medication inventory and reporting patient treatment information. An ideal dispensing nurse candidate works cooperatively with supervisory counseling staff and demonstrates a non-judgmental and accepting attitude toward the Substance Use Disorder . Responsibilities: Administer daily medication to patients in accordance with program policy and medical protocols . Us e automated dispensing system (s) , calibrate pump and maintain dispensing equipment Produce and maintain appropriate records and reports as required by C ompany protocol , Federal and State Regulations Ensure compliance with security standards for the distribution and storage of controlled substances as set forth in the Code of Federal regulations Order, receive and stock medication in accordance with DEA and State regulations. The patients have a general diagnosis of leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma, sickle cell disease, solid tumor cancers, immune disorders, palliative care, and other hematologic malignancies. All disease related care for these case types is performed on the unit, including blood product support and administration of chemotherapy. The unit provides care for allogenic bone marrow transplants (including CAR-T therapy, umbilical cord blood transplant, matched unrelated donors and Haplo donors) and autologous peripheral blood stem cell transplant patients. The unit participates in infusional therapy for clinical trials as they relate to inpatient status. Patients receive Bipap, Cpap, High flow O2, telemetry, negative pressure dressings, specialty beds, PCA therapy. Maintains awareness of procedural suite activities and works with the Procedure Suite team to maximize workflow. Keeps abreast of changing techniques in procedural nursing and maintains a high level of expertise in critical care. Responsible for intraprocedural monitoring of patients not limited to maintain active airway, assesses effective circulation and respiration via capnography and telemetry monitoring. Safely recover patients post sedation, perform discharge teaching, and evaluate safety of patient discharge. Coordinate correct research specimen collection with research coordinators. Maintain Joint commission readiness. Provide as needed support for biopsy specimen collection when not acting in a procedural sedation role.
