Bear Mountain at Sudbury is looking for Nursing Supervisor/ Infection Preventionist. Works in office area(s) as well as throughout the facility. Moves intermittently during working hours. Is subject to frequent interruptions. Is involved with residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc., under all conditions and circumstances. Is subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, personnel, and visitors. Communicates with the medical staff, nursing personnel, and other department directors. Works beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary, as well as in other positions as needed. Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including TB and the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses. May be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals. Maintains a liaison with the residents, their families, support departments, etc., to adequately plan for the residents’ needs in relation to prevention and control of infections. Education Must possess, as a minimum, a nursing degree from an accredited school of nursing. Experience Must have, as a minimum, two (2) years clinical experience in a hospital, nursing care facility, or other related healthcare facility. Must have, as a minimum, six (6) months training experience in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices. Must possess a working knowledge of epidemiology, microbiology, infectious diseases, and aseptic technique to include standard/universal precautions. APIC Certification in infection control preferred, but not necessary. Specific Requirements Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as a Registered Nurse in this state. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language. Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age-related needs of the residents served. Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action. Recognizes normal and deviant progress patterns and reports problems or concerns to physician in a timely manner. Utilizes pain management devices and other techniques to ensure proper pain relief. Sets up, maintains and troubleshoots other equipment related to the surgical patient such as; traction/orthopedic equipment/devices, feeding pumps, chest tubes and drains, etc. Institutes appropriate measures in life threatening situations. Recognizes normal and abnormal laboratory and diagnostic results and appropriately notifies the physician of changes in a timely manner. Participates actively in daily multi-disciplinary rounds for planning, coordinating, implementing and evaluating patient care.
