General Purpose of Job : The RN Staff Nurse is a professional care giver who assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated time frame and provides care to these patients via therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, the environment / instrumentation, and other health care team members. Assigns and directs the work of related staff. Knowledge, Skills and Experience : Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred. Michigan Registered Professional Nurse licensure required. Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) provider—required. Endoscopy RN: Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) provider preferred. Must obtain ACLS certification within 60 days of hire or placement in the unit. Level 4/Level 5 RN: Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) provider preferred. Must obtain ACLS certification within one year of hire or placement in the unit. Level 4/Level 5 RN: Competence in basic cardiac dysrhythmia interpretation required, will train. Level 6: Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) provider preferred. ED: Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) provider preferred. Must obtain PALS certification within six months of hire or placement in the unit. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within three (3) months after hire or transfer. Must maintain ACLS certification with re-certification every two (2) years. IR/NEURO IR RN: Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) must be obtained within 30 days of hire or transfer. Previous experience in specialty preferred. Essential Duties : ASSESSMENT—Assess the patient's condition and physical, psychological, cognitive, social, rehabilitative, and discharge needs. PLANNING—Develop a plan of care using nursing diagnoses and setting patient outcome goals. IMPLEMENTATION—Implement nursing plan of care and physician's orders. IMPLEMENTATION—Establish priorities of patient care based on essential patient needs and available resources of time, personnel, equipment and supplies. IMPLEMENTATION—Perform nursing procedures, assist physicians, and use equipment following established standards. EVALUATION—Evaluate the patient’s response to nursing interventions and physician ordered therapy / diagnostics. Update or modify plan of care to meet the current needs of the patient. PATIENT EDUCATION—Educate the patient and significant others based on the cognitive needs of each and defined by patient outcome goals. DOCUMENTATION—Document concise, accurate and timely information in the patient care record. PATIENT/FAMILY RIGHTS—Demonstrate knowledge of and respect for patient and significant others’ rights, including confidentiality. SAFETY/RISK MANAGEMENT—Follow established standards in provision for safety. LEGAL ISSUES—Demonstrate awareness of legal issues in all aspects of patient care and department function and strive to manage situations in a reduced risk manner. ED RN - Weekends Only

We are excited to be offering a Weekend Only Program for RNs! Eligibility: RNs in inpatient nursing settings with 24/7 scheduling are included. 0.9 FTE would work two 12-hour shifts on the weekend and one additional shift during the week. Compensation: RNs will receive an additional $10 per hour plus their base pay. If the RN is a full-time (3)12s a week RN, the stipend will apply to the two shifts on the weekend and not on the third weekday shift. This $10 per hour will be combined with shift differentials as well as other special codes. Scheduling: RNs will be required to work 48 out of 52 weekends per calendar year. Weekends are defined as Friday and Saturday night for night shift. RNs can request up to 48 hours of PTO on their weekend shifts as well as 48 hours of exchanging a weekend shift for a weekday shift, for a total of 96 hours ‘off’ of the weekend requirement. This would be given in accordance with unit guidelines with allotted PTO as well as peak times, etc. RNs may request 1 holiday off per calendar year that falls on the weekend. The RN would only work the holiday if it fell on the weekend, they will not be moved off a weekend to work on a holiday. What the Clinical Supervisor will do: Develops master plans (with manager/staff input) for areas of responsibility that support mission and strategic plan of the organization. Develops budgets for area/s of responsibility and monitors expenditures and effective utilization of financial resources. Identifies unit staff needs and allocates appropriate nursing staff on a daily basis consistent with department standards and cost center accountability. Develops and implements performance standards. Promotes continuous improvement through innovation and work redesign. Completes PPE’s as scheduled. Provides information to management regarding resource needs. Assures unit practices are monitored. Ensures adherence to accrediting and regulatory standards of patient care. Review/revise unit specific policies and procedures/ standards/ protocols yearly.
