Overview Department: Intensive Care Unit Employment Type: Per Diem/ PRN Shifts Available: Nights Hours: 12-hour shifts Location: Dallas Regional Medical Center – Mesquite, TX We are seeking an ICU Registered Nurse, also referred to as an ICU RN, Intensive Care Nurse or Intensive Care Unit RN. The Intensive Care RN (ICU RN) will be responsible for providing intensive care to patients with life-threatening conditions. The ICU RN will have advanced skills in critical care settings, make quick decisions, and will be compassionate to all patients. An ICU RN monitors vital signs, blood oxygen levels, administer IV Fluids, and communicates effectively to the medical team to modify care plans accordingly. Responsibilities Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to): Deliver high-quality care to critically ill patients by performing detailed assessments, developing care plans, and implementing complex nursing interventions Use advanced equipment like cardiac monitors, pulse oximeters, blood pressure monitors, ventilators, infusion pumps, and capnography devices to continuously track vital signs and physiological parameters Safely administer medications, intravenous fluids, and blood products with precise dosing and timing, closely monitoring patient responses to ensure effectiveness and prevent adverse reactions Manage life-support devices such as ventilators, dialysis machines, and cardiac monitors Provide emotional support and education to patients' families, acting as a liaison to ensure they understand the care being provided Document all aspects of patient care to ensure continuity and compliance while rigorously maintaining infection control and safety protocols to protect vulnerable patients Qualifications Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. Interpret information accurately from various noninvasive and invasive monitors. Describe the underlying pathophysiology of commonly encountered disease processes. Describe the physiology associated with various anesthesia techniques and surgical or procedural interventions. Apply the relevant scoring system/discharge criteria for patient transfer ( e.g. , Aldrete Score, Modified Aldrete Score [ i.e. , PARSAP], Post Anesthesia Discharge Scoring System [PADSS], White) score accurately as defined by organizational policy.
