The Nurse Practitioner provides specialized care to children with complex acute, critical, and chronic conditions. Working collaboratively with pediatric intensivists and the interdisciplinary care team, this position assesses patients, develops and implements treatment plans, coordinates care, and supports patients and families throughout hospitalization and discharge. The ideal candidate is a skilled and compassionate provider with strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to delivering safe, collaborative, and family-centered care. Write appropriate orders for medications, nursing care, laboratory testing, imaging, and other diagnostic or therapeutic services within the approved scope of practice. Participate in PICU- and CICU-based conferences, committees, quality initiatives, and the development of clinical practice standards. Serve as a liaison and advocate for high-risk patients, children with complex or chronic healthcare needs, and their families. Qualifications Master’s or Post Master’s Degree, required. Graduation from a Nurse Practitioners Program with practice authority in the State of Texas, required. Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner - Acute Care (CPNP-AC), required. Active and unencumbered nurse practitioner and registered nurse license in the State of Texas, required. Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications, required.
