This position is responsible for functioning as both a caregiver and care manager. In the caregiver role, the RN assumes responsibility for a group of patients for a designated time frame implementing the Nursing Process. In the role of care manager, the RN directs and oversees the work of other caregivers, (nurses and non-nurses) via delegation, coordination, supervision, and validation/evaluation of patient care outcomes. The individual in this position will be required to fully understand the purpose and operation of Patient Care Services along with having the ability to make decisions based on sound judgment when a situation dictates. This is a part-time position working 48 hours per pay period. The schedule alternates between two 10-hour shifts one week and two 10-hour shifts plus one 8-hour shift the following week. Shifts are scheduled Monday through Friday, with 10-hour shifts worked from 6:45 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. and 8-hour shift worked from 6:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Approximately 3-4 days per month of mandatory scheduled call is required. EXTRA INCENTIVE: Up to $7,500 sign on bonus, subject to two-year Hospital Sign on Bonus Agreement. ( External candidates only. ) ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Performs assessment/data collection, focusing on physiologic, psychosocial, and cognitive status. Implements care in a knowledgeable, skillful, consistent, and continuous manner by utilization of/adherence to pre-determined procedures, policies and care plans. Identifies patient/significant other learning needs, readiness for learning, and implements patient teaching as defined by policy and care plans. Documents in patient’s chart, via electronic medical records and/or paper processes, per policy and in accordance with all regulatory requirements. Peri-Operative Unit Surgery ACLS (AHA Advanced Life Support) certification to be obtained within 6 months of hire and renewed every 2 years. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Education: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. License: Current Washington State RN Licensure. Physical strength to perform CPR (bed/floor), lift and push/pull 60 to 300 pounds (with assistance) as often as 20 times per 8 to 12 hours and perform constant walking, twisting, turning, and stretching maneuvers in patient care and use of equipment. Keen mental faculties to perform assessment and decision-making skills in the management of acutely ill patients. Good reading eyesight. Is able to see clearly 20 feet or more, to judge distance and space relationships, and to see peripherally. Visual acuity to observe patient assessment data and use manual/automated documentation tools. Emotional stability: Conducive to dealing with a high stress level for 8 to 12 hours at a time associated with caring for acute patients/families, fast-paced physical activity, rapidly changing patient conditions, emotional demands of patients and their families, and demands of maintaining effective working relationships with peers, managers, physicians, and other health care workers. Charge Nurse 0.9 FTE, Nights, 1800 start, Monday through Wednesday As an integral member of the health care team, the Charge RN functions within the scope of practice as defined by the State and the ANA Scope and Standards for Pediatric Nursing Practice. Responsible for the planning, organization and delivery of safe and timely patient and family care for all patients on the unit during each shift or for providing safe direct patient care.
