Maintain effective communication among departments so MDS and care plans can be kept current when changes to the residents’ condition occur. Monitor resident care during the MDS process and reports concerns to the Facility Executive Director and Director of Nursing Services. Assists with the pre-admission screening process to estimate the potential resident’s RUGs group, as needed. Qualifications: Must hold current RN or LPN nursing license in the state of employment; license must be active, valid, and in good standing. Experience in Long Term Care preferred. Computer skills such as Data Entry and Word processing required. Working knowledge of the MDS 3.0 (current version of minimum data set). Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations and guidelines that pertain to skilled nursing facilities. Manage the anesthesia process to include induction, maintenance, and emergence of general, regional, and monitored anesthesia cases. Recognize abnormal patient responses to anesthesia or to any adjunctive medication or form of therapy. Initiate corrective measures. Determine the need for additional laboratory tests and provide resuscitative care as necessary. Evaluate and manage the patient in the immediate post-operative period. 9. Administers IV fluids relative to the patient’s medical history and surgical procedure. Administer blood products after obtaining a hematocrit and then consultation with the surgeon and/or anesthesiologist. 10. Documents the patient status in the anesthesia record appropriately. 11. Performs all required safety and performance checks on anesthesia-related equipment and verify the appropriate supplies before initiating care. Procure and assemble equipment and supplies as indicated if anesthesia tech is not available. 12. Reviews appropriate documentation for informed consent and identify appropriate surgical site during SBAR with circulating RN and holding room RN. Participates in surgical pause in the OR with entire surgical team in accordance with departmental and regulatory compliance standards. 13. Communicates appropriately with all individuals involved in the peri-operative and post-operative care of the patient. 14. In a life-threatening emergency, functions responsibly by providing anesthesia care in the absence of an anesthesiologist. 15. Assists with the teaching and evaluation of newly-hired CRNAs, GRNAs, SRNAs in the clinical area. 16. Assumes responsibility and is accountable for controlled substances according to department and hospital policy and State and federal guidelines. 17. Contributes to the nursing assessment by collecting, reporting and recording objective and subjective data. 6. Observes the condition or change in condition of the patient, records signs and symptoms of deviation from normal health status and reports findings to the overseeing role. 7. Participates in the development of the patient’s plan of care by providing data, contributing to the identification of priorities and assisting in the identification of measures to maintain comfort and support human functions and responses. 8. Assists in assigned patient and family education and rehabilitation by reviewing patient needs with the overseeing role and following the teaching plan. 9. Documents nursing interventions and responses to care, communicating to appropriate members of the health care team. 10. Accurately and safely administers intramuscular, subcutaneous, IV, oral, nebulization and/or MDI delivered medications as assigned. 11. Obtains instruction and supervision as necessary from the overseeing role when implementing nursing technique or practices.
