Monitors and charts patients, collects sample, and performs other tasks as assigned, all under the direction of registered nurses and doctors. Responsibilities: Administers prescribed medications, gives injections and vaccines, reads PPD results. Performs electrocardiograms (EKG) and screening tests. Obtains and tests specimens following standard operating procedures and documents results, taking appropriate action with unexpected results. Prepares specimens for transport as necessary. Gather information from patient and direct to the RN or Provider when necessary. Assists provider with surgical procedures including positioning patients, keeping a sterile field, and wound cleaning and dressing. Prepares paperwork to complete patient visit. Obtains and documents patient's vital signs as needed and reports abnormal results to provider. Cleans, disinfects, sterilizes and checks to make sure all instruments and equipment are in proper working order. Maintains medication storage closets. Participates in orienting new team members. Performs duties in accordance with Penn Medicine and entity values, policies, and procedures. Other duties as assigned to support the unit, department, entity, and health system organization. A Brief Overview Children's Hospital of Philadelphia is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse for their Chadds Ford Primary Care office. This position will be Monday-Friday and will require one evening shift per week and a rotating Saturday shift. The shift will be based off the operational need. Two years of LPN and pediatric experience is preferred. The Licensed Practical Nurse performs routine nursing care of the ill, injured or infirm under the direction of a licensed professional (RN) nurse, nurse practitioner and/or a physician. The LPN participates in the planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care in accordance with the scope of the LPN as defined by the State Board of Nursing and health system standards. Also supports operations through administrative duties as required. The nurse must demonstrate competence in caring for patients with moderate to complex health issues and assist the Site Manager with administrative issues which affect the clinical practices within the office as well as comply with the administrative policies and clinical protocols as outlined in policy and procedure manual.
