Clinic Nurse - Infectious Disease (CMA or LPN) Job Description The Infectious Disease Clinic Nurse (LPN/CMA) provides direct and indirect clinical support to providers in the outpatient Infectious Disease Clinic. Responsibilities include obtaining clinical measurements, collecting patient information, assisting with examinations and procedures, administering medications and treatments within scope of practice, coordinating patient care, and documenting accurate clinical information in the electronic medical record. The Clinic Nurse serves as a key member of the healthcare team by promoting efficient clinic operations, ensuring quality patient care, supporting provider workflows, and delivering compassionate, patient-centered service while maintaining compliance with organizational policies and regulatory standards. This position will also cross train to support the attached wound clinic. Hours: Full-time/40 hours per week Required: CMA or LPN; BLS within 90 days of hire Pay: Based on experience, starting at $20.59/CMA and $23.87/LPN Responsibilities Accepts reassignment, at the direction and discretion of management, as applicable to staffing levels and patient volumes, Administers medication as directed by the provider., Assists providers with patient exams/ treatments/procedures., Cleans/stocks exam rooms/work spaces on an on-going basis to assure that there is an adequate supply. Performs all tasks related to stocking and cleaning in adherence to regulatory and system infection control policies/protocols. This includes responsibility for discarding outdated items and labeling multi-dose vials with date and initial opened and then discarding them per guidelines., Cleans and sterilizes equipment and instruments based on needs of the practice. Performs tasks and documents them in alignment with infection control regulations and system policies/protocols., Collects patient data including but not limited to heights, weights, vital signs and other measurements., Documents appropriate data/information. Keeps providers aware of patient requests, needs and observations made that could be of value to the provider's assessment, care and follow-up., Documents responses to patient history/screening questions for use by providers during assessments and examinations., Follows Universal Precautions at all times during contact with patients, equipment, instruments, and/or specimens., Performs and documents laboratory duties which may include phlebotomy, specimen collection and performance of routine basic waived testing. Handles and coordinates reference lab testing specimens/reports and corresponding reports/documentation., Performs general clerical duties, as required, such as receiving and mailing patient test results, preparing charge tickets, transcribing data to physical or referral forms, filing and monitoring or ordering supplies,, Relays information between provider(s) and client(s), which may include but is not limited to communications with patients, families, pharmacies, nursing homes, consultancy office staff, insurers, and facilities. At provider's instruction, communicates provider advice, instructions, orders and results, as applicable, including accurate documentation., Routes messages to provider as appropriate., Schedules patients for diagnostic, therapeutic, referral or additional office visits. Responsibilities for Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN): Provide patient care in accordance with accepted standards of nursing practice, the written plan of care, and the physician’s plan of treatment. Follow and implement individualized care plans developed by the Nurse Manager and interdisciplinary team. Perform medication administration and prescribed treatments in accordance with the plan of care (POC) and facility policies. Monitor residents’ conditions, report changes promptly to the supervising nurse or physician, and respond appropriately to clinical needs. Maintain accurate, timely documentation in accordance with physician orders, care plans, and regulatory standards. Support a safe, respectful, and therapeutic environment for residents and their families. Qualifications for Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN): Current, unencumbered active LPN license in the state of New Jersey . Valid BLS Certification (CPR) required. Ability to care for and manage multiple patients in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and attention to detail.
