Employees providing direct patient care must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served. This position floats to Peds, PICU, and NICU. Associate's degree in Nursing required Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred, must obtain within 8 years of hire Licensed Registered Nurse in good standing with the State of Michigan As of December 29, 2013, any nurse hired by Bronson who does not hold a BSN (or higher nursing degree) will be given 8 years from date of hire date to obtain. If, after years, the nurse has not met this requirement, employment will be terminated. BLS competency required by completion of core orientation Critical care or Advanced Life Support is required for RN Nurse nurses • Ability to read, interpret, and analyze data from various computer systems and equipment in order to set an appropriate plan of action • Must be able to constantly communicate both verbally, in writing and electronically. • Activities and treatments must be recorded in an accurate manner and technical information and instructions must be communicated to patients, families, and all members of the care delivery team. Relocation Assistance is also available *** Job Location: Duke University Hospital / NICU Job Summary The Neonatal APP provides direct patient care services and performs medical procedures under the supervision of a supervisory physician to infant’s (birth through 2 years of age) in specialized neonatal units to include Intensive Care Nurseries, Intermediate Care Nurseries and the Special Care Nurseries in the Duke University Health System. The Neonatal APP performs physical exams, collects and documents data, conducts diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, orders and schedules laboratory studies and professional consultations, prescribes appropriate interventions and medications, and provides direct patient care services. The NNP contributes to excellence in patient care, research, teaching, and provides leadership in the organization. Job Duties and Responsibilities In collaboration with the attending of service and/or fellows, round daily on patients to assess, diagnose, plan treatment, set priorities and realistic outcomes, and evaluate the effectiveness and cost efficiency of patient care. Provide and coordinate clinical care for service specific patients through established protocols and under the hospitalist supervising physician or back up physician who is either on site or available by pager. Collaborate with fellows, attending, other APP colleagues, nurses, and patient resource managers to formulate treatment plans and monitor patient progress. Perform procedures specific to the work environment after demonstrated competency and within the guidelines of scope of practice and credentialing protocols. Use non-technical language when educating patients and families. Document all education in patients’ medical record. Implement and evaluate appropriate educational programs for DUHS patient care staff and other healthcare providers as appropriate.
