The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) is responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating the mental health needs of the patient. The PMHNP works collaboratively with the psychiatrist to formulate treatment plans, prescribe medications, order and interpret results from laboratory tests, provide patient education, prepare medical records and refer patients in accordance with Joint Commission, Federal and State regulations, Oceans’ Mission, policies and procedures and Performance Improvement Standards. Essential Functions: Diagnosing, conducting, and prescribing medications for patients having psychiatric-mental health problems. Responsible for providing emergency psychiatric services, physician and psycho-social examinations of their patients. Developing appropriate treatment plan and providing effective management of patient care with proper evaluation. Consulting with patients and families having multiple and complex disorders; and working in a collaborative and integrative roles with primary healthcare providers. Performing invasive procedures. Educating patients on positive health promoting lifestyle choices and diseases, injury and illness prevention.

VCU's Pauley Heart Center is expanding access to inpatient and outpatient cardiovascular care at VCU's Community Memorial Hospital. The full time APP will manage acute and chronic cardiovascular conditions of new, transitional, and follow up patients in both the inpatient and ambulatory setting. The Advanced Practice Provider (APP- NP, PA) provides high-quality medical and/or surgical patient care. This position provides care to patients with acute and chronic complaints in collaboration with the Attending Physician. The Advanced Practice Provider provides diagnostic, therapeutic, and/or preventive healthcare service on a Collaborative APP/Physician team. The Advanced Practice Provider may perform any or all of the following: histories and physicals; order and interpret tests; make diagnosis; treat injuries/illness; assist with surgical procedures; counsel patient and/or prescribe medication and those invasive procedures defined by the Virginia Board of Medicine.
