Responsibilities As a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner , you'll provide comprehensive behavioral healthcare while supporting patients with mental health and substance use disorders. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and ongoing medication management. Assess, diagnose, and treat patients with behavioral health and substance use disorders. Support the facility's Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) program by evaluating patients and developing individualized treatment plans. Obtain patient histories, perform physical assessments as appropriate, and formulate evidence-based treatment plans. Prescribe medications and monitor patient response to treatment. Admit, evaluate, and discharge patients in accordance with established clinical protocols. Conduct patient rounds and ensure continuity of care throughout the treatment process. Order, review, and interpret laboratory and diagnostic testing as clinically indicated. Collaborate with physicians, nurses, mental health professionals, and correctional staff to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care. Respond to urgent psychiatric needs while promoting patient safety and maintaining appropriate clinical documentation. Educate patients on their diagnoses, medications, treatment plans, and available behavioral health resources.
