Responsibilities Abides by and enforces all hospital policies and procedures, including those pertaining to confidentiality; provides anesthetic to patients undergoing operative or invasive procedures, scheduled or emergent: general anesthetic, regional anesthetic, IV block, monitored anesthesia care; provides perioperative anesthetic management for all groups and risk categories; performs preoperative anesthetic assessment, interprets data, and formulates anesthetic plan; assembles equipment and supplies for anesthetic and performs safety check of equipment; uses proper technique, titration, and administration of all anesthetic drugs including controlled substances; performs intraoperative evaluation with continuous visual and auditory monitoring of vital signs; places arterial lines, monitors and replaces fluids, blood, and blood products and other intravenous fluids deemed necessary; administers medications including controlled substances by all routes; transports patient to recovery area and gives oral/written report of intraoperative course; performs postoperative evaluation of patient; provides patient or guardian with risks, benefits, and anesthetic plan; performs emergency care outside the operative setting including starting IV’s, intubation, and airway management; places thermodilution and pulmonary artery catheters; maintains accurate and complete medical records by: completing pre-anesthesia evaluation, documenting a continuous, accurate, legible account of physiological and anesthetic status, completing Quality Management forms, and documenting postoperative evaluation notes; adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards; ability to respond to digital, voice, and overhead pages; available in hospital within thirty(30) minutes of call; accesses and accurately maintains electronic and paper medical records; regular and prompt attendance and the ability to work the schedule as defined and additional hours and call as required; related duties as required. A Brief Overview Provides direct and indirect nursing care based on established patient care protocol and the nursing process. Coordinates with team members to provide a team-based approached to care. Hours and location may vary based on patient needs. Essential Functions Performs treatments, procedures, and medication / immunization administration in a professional and compassionate manner according to organization policy and procedures. Completes an accurate assessment of physical, mental, emotional, developmental and social conditions when interviewing all patients and families in the office and on the telephone. Coordinates the scheduling of diagnostic tests and procedures with the patient /family, other physicians/hospitals and insurance providers as determined by the needs of the patient. Coordinates, provides, and appropriately documents patient and family education. Demonstrates knowledge of and provides care based on age-specific or developmental milestones for infants, toddlers, preschool, school age, and adolescents according to organization protocols Completes all required patient care documentation in an accurate and timely manner within the electronic medical record according to organization's policy and procedures. Responds appropriately in crisis situations or life-threatening emergencies Directs other team members in the delivery of nursing care as determined by the needs of the office and the direction of the office manager or physicians. Demonstrates proficiency and use of critical thinking skills when performing phone triage. Fulfills expectation of complete and accurate phone documentation by utilizing EMR workflows as directed. Returns phone calls within determined response time ranges. Maintain up to date knowledge and compliance with laboratory standards and guidelines as directed. Promotes and encourages use of Children’s Connect by communicating with parents via online portal whenever feasible. Takes ownership of quality metrics as a reflection of our commitment to continuously improving the quality of care for all patients. Works quality reports as directed, utilizing appropriate established workflows. Maintains clean and professional appearance of exam rooms at all times. Maintains supply and linen levels appropriately. Attends required meetings and educational sessions as directed. Regular attendance at work is an essential function of the job. Perform physical requirements as described in the Physical Requirements section Education Qualifications Graduate from an accredited school of nursing Required and Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in nursing Preferred Experience Qualifications Minimum 1 year of RN experience. If incumbent has less than 1 year of RN experience, must commit to work full time in a Nurse Residency Program. Required and Previous pediatric nursing experience Preferred and Previous experience with EPIC Preferred Skills And Abilities Excellent skills in communication, listening, customer service, organization. Excellent clinical skills providing direct and indirect nursing care in an office setting. Intermediate to advanced computer skills. Ability to type, navigate an electronic system, and adapt to changes in workflows as they occur. D7 Pediatric Hematology Oncology - Patient Care Associate- 12 hour/ week NIGHT SHIFT

Department/Unit: General Pediatrics-D7 Work Shift: Night (United States of America) Salary Range: The Patient Care Associate (PCA) will work under the direction of the Registered Nurse. During the assigned work period, PCAs will collect patient data, complete personal care of the patient, perform point of care testing such as whole blood glucose, turn & position and/or mobilize patients, and assist with caring for the needs of assigned patients with a focus on progress toward discharge, including during transitions within the acute care stay. The Patient Care Associate promotes the availability of resources for patient care through stocking, and storage of supplies. The Patient Care Associate participates in the creation and maintenance of a clean, orderly, and safe environment of care. PCAs may also be asked to provide the service of activity companion for patients requiring 1:1 observation. The Patient Care Associate is responsible for assisting in the delivery of patient care provided by the caregiving team. S/he assures that competent, compassionate patient care is uniformly provided to customers. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Collects pertinent data and information relative to the patient’s health or situation, including vital signs, height and weight, and food and fluid intake and output. Reports abnormal findings to the RN and patient care team. Participates in care planning and the nursing report process. Incorporates patient/family rights to participate in decision making about their care Utilizes standardized techniques for keeping patients and families informed. Provides personal care to patients including bathing, oral care, and skin care Assists the patient with eating and hydration, grooming, dressing, and toileting. Incorporates safe patient handling into basic restorative care such as ambulation, range of motion and use of assistive and prosthetic devices. Employs strategies to promote a clean, orderly, and safe environment. Demonstrates standard and transmission, based precautions and infection control techniques. Provides details related to patient progress toward the achievement of goals and outcomes to the RN. Documents all care in the patient record. Qualifications High School Diploma/G.E.D. or equivalent - required Currently enrolled in a college or university RN program. experience as a paramedic, emergency technician - preferred Basic knowledge of medical terminology (Medium proficiency) Honest, punctual, and performs the job in adherence to the highest standards of ethical conduct as defined by Albany Medical Center and the tenets of the profession.
