Basic knowledge to perform arithmetic calculations when maintaining record of charges normally acquired through completion of high school. Approximately three to six months of related experience, preferred, in order to learn sterile techniques, become familiar with anesthesia equipment and cleaning procedures, and learn inventory techniques. Interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate effectively with the surgical team and maintain effective contacts with physicians and hospital employees. Familiarity and manual dexterity required with all basic surgical instruments, supplies, equipment and procedures. BLS-HCP Certification required and/or must be obtained within 90 days of hire. Position Purpose The Nurse Navigator is accountable for coordination of care and educational support to patients. This nurse also assists the department’s leadership in coordination and conducting specific programs that support clinical excellence. The goals of this position and clinical programs are to improve the care experience of the patient and their family, facilitate the work of the physicians and meet the needs of the hospital’s community in relation to education, screening, prevention, and treatment.
