Summary: The CRNA will employ multiple modalities, including regional anesthesia, MAC sedation and general anesthesia, in the operating room to provide adequate analgesia or anesthesia during surgical procedures. The CRNA scope of practice is defined by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists and the North Carolina Practice Act. Providers are accountable to the North Carolina Board of Nursing for practicing nursing within the scope of the North Carolina Nursing Practice Act. The CRNA will work with an exceptional team who support full scope nurse anesthesia practice. Great mix of cases including general, orthopedics, urology, plastics, GYN, podiatry, dental, ENT, ophthalmology. Out of department procedures include endoscopy, cardioversions/TEE, and IR. There are no hearts or lungs. CRNAs function independently to provide labor epidurals on a designated labor and delivery tract. Responsibilities: 1. Performs pre-anesthetic evaluations on patients utilizing established guidelines and administers appropriate pre-operative medications. Consults with physicians as appropriate. Ensures that any patient/family questions or concerns are satisfactorily addressed. 2. Verifies patient identity and correct procedure(s). Checks for appropriate physical status for anesthesia/analgesia, following through as warranted. 3. Ensures that anesthesia machine, breathing circuits, monitoring equipment, suction devices and all other equipment that will be used is fully operational, in advance of scheduled time for procedure. Ensures availability of backup and emergency drugs on anesthesia cart, to include necessary equipment for their administration. 4. Appropriately establishes and secures intravenous/intra-arterial lines, applies appropriate monitors based on patient needs and procedural requirements. 5. Induces and maintains inhalation, intravenous, local, regional and topical anesthesia commensurate with commonly used anesthetics and techniques, constantly monitoring drug effects and altering dosage to maintain optimal physiological function consistent with patient well-being, safety and procedural goals. Telephone Triage: Manage patient inquiries and provide guidance over the phone. Fast Track Care: Coordinate fast track care processes for efficient patient management. Outpatient Management: Evaluate and manage Hematology/Cellular Therapy patients undergoing treatment with bispecifics, CAR T-cell therapy, and Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) in the Outpatient Cellular Therapy Unit. Conduct symptom triage and management, oversee outpatient care, and facilitate inpatient admissions when appropriate. This includes managing side effects, toxicities, and administering supportive care in the infusion center. Triaging symptoms and managing them appropriately in the outpatient setting, facilitating inpatient admissions as necessary. Qualifications Education (NP): Master of Nursing Degree. Graduate of an accredited Nurse practitioner program approved by the California Board of Registered. Education (PA-C): Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program required. Bachelor's degree Experience Requirements: A minimum of two (2) years of inpatient experience as an NP/PA with a focus on malignant hematology, including Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) and CAR T therapy.
