The Experienced Clinical Nurse at MD Anderson Cancer Center manages patient outcomes by providing, coordinating and supporting clinical aspects of direct patient care across the continuum of care. They impact quality of patient care, patient outcomes and use of resources in a designated area in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, an RN license and at least twelve months of recent RN experience in medical/surgical or an acute care setting. The candidate must be available to work the Day/Evening shift, from 7am - 7pm, with rotating weekends and holidays required. P10 Surgical/Oncology is a specialized inpatient unit providing care for surgical oncology patients, including those undergoing complex cancer-related procedures. Nurses on this unit deliver pre- and post-operative care, manage pain and complications, and provide education and emotional support to patients and families. What You Will Do In Your Role: · The Nurse in the Same Day Surgery Unit is responsible for the provision of safe and effective care of the perioperative patient in the pre-operative and post-operative phase. · The employee proactively works toward and achieves goals set in the previous evaluation period and assumes responsibility for the efficient management of patients admitted to the Same Day Surgery Unit. · Performs pre-operative, pre-procedure assessments of patients immediately prior to planned intervention. · Plans, coordinates, and provides, nursing care according to individual patient care needs. What qualifications you will need: · Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing, BSN preferred. · Current licensure in Texas as a Registered Nurse required. · 2 years medical surgical experience, with preference for post anesthesia care experience · American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support course (BLS or BCLS) and certification is required. · American Red Cross or American Heart Association Advanced Life Support course (ALS or ACLS) and certification is required. · American Red Cross or American Heart Association Pediatric Life Support course (PLS or PCLS) and certification is required.
