Patients in this unit have a wide variety of acute and chronic medical conditions, such as head and neck cancer, surgical flaps and grafts, renal failure, diabetes, hypertension, pneumonia, sepsis and complex multi-system failure. Caregivers float to both sides of the unit, so you will have one foot in medicine and 1 foot in critical care. A caregiver in this position works day/evening rotation 7:00am—7:30pm or 7:30pm—7:00am . A caregiver who excels in this role will: Provide direct nursing care. Implement, monitor, evaluate, update and revise patient care plans. Monitor, record, document and communicate patients’ conditions. Administer prescribed medications and treatments. Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
