Determines priorities for patient care needs or problems. 5. Reassesses the patient as indicated by changes in condition and/ or response to treatment(s) B. Planning. 1. Initiates and updates a written nursing plan of care for patients by incorporating scientific and psychosocial principles that support the nursing diagnosis. 2. Incorporates information obtained from nursing care planning conferences into written nursing plan of care. 3. Coordinates patient, family, significant other, and health team members in the planning of hospital and post-discharge care. C. Implementation. 1. Performs clinical nursing skills independently. 2. Administers medications, IV therapy and treatments appropriately and accurately. 3. Initiates appropriate emergency procedures as necessary. 4. Appropriately delegates and coordinates the duties of ancillary personnel. 5. Communicates the patient's status and plan of care through written documentation in the patient's medical record. 6. Verbally communicates the patient's status to physicians, nurses and other health care professionals. 7. Communicates in a therapeutic manner with the patient, family and visitors. 8. Applies teaching/learning principles in education of patient and family. D. Patient Care Coordination 1. Manages daily patient assignment by appropriately setting priorities. 2. Delegates responsibility appropriately and monitors the nursing care delivered to patients by ancillary personnel. 3. Coordinates patient activities with other disciplines. E. Teaching and Quality Improvement 1. Develops, documents and implements Patient Teaching and Discharge Planning Record. 2. Participates in established patient, family, staff and/or student education program. 3. Participates in clinical monitoring at the unit level. 4. Identifies unit, staff and patient care problems. Float Registered Nurse

$38.45 - $63.37 / hour
Schedule: 36 hours weekly, 7 AM to 7PM. Type: In Person. As a Float Nurse (RN), you will: Be responsible for providing additional and/or relief coverage as indicated by staff shortage or patient status in varying patient care areas. Perform a full range of professional nursing services, including assessing, administering, and evaluating patient care, in accordance with team treatment plan. Administer medical treatment as prescribed by physician and is responsible for teaching and providing psychosocial support to patients. Provide day-to-day clinical direction to Mental Health Workers. Document and reports patient progress to treatment team. Requires: Knowledge of nursing theory, principles, and practices and basic computer usage skills - acquired through graduation from an accredited program of nursing. Possession of a current license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Maryland at the time of appointment and continuously while in position. Maintains professional knowledge and skills through attendance at professional meetings, workshops, courses, and in-service educational sessions. Analytical ability and sound nursing knowledge for the effective formulation of nursing care plans, implementation of care, and appropriate documentation of pertinent information regarding patient condition. Individual must be able to identify the need for assistance/supervision and seek out appropriate resources. Interpersonal skills to interact effectively with psychiatrically ill patients in order to gain their cooperation and allay apprehensions, with treatment team members in the delivery of care, and with patients and family members to provide effective health teaching (51-80% of work time). What we need from you. Must hold current registered nurse (RN) licensure to practice in Maryland at the time of appointment and maintain licensure throughout the duration of employment. Candidates residing in a compact state may apply with a multistate license and must obtain a Maryland RN license within 60 days of relocation.
