The RN will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, family-centered care in the outpatient setting of the Children’s Cancer & Blood Disorders and Peds Day Treatment Unit. These units operate Monday-Friday, day shift only with flexibility based on patient needs. Ideal candidate has a minimum of two years of nursing experience and one-year recent pediatric oncology experience and the availability to work a minimum of 2 shifts per week. Qualifications Education: As required by licensure. BSN or degree in progress strongly preferred. BSN may be required for specific assignments; experienced RNs without a BSN may be hired based on clinical experience with approval of the site CNO. Responsible for collaborating with physicians and members of the interdisciplinary teams to triage, coordinate, and consistently manage patient care by educating the patient and serving as a point of contact for patients and families. Works with patients and families to answer questions, provide emotional support, and resolve any barriers, needs or issues related to the cycle of cancer care. Assesses patients’ current and future needs, provides patient access to resources internal and external, facilitates distress screenings and patient needs assessments, and makes appropriate referrals. Establishes and maintains close collaboration with physicians and the cancer care team to ensure patient care and coordination using oncology nursing knowledge base, experience and expertise. Actively participates in multidisciplinary conference, providing patient follow up as needed. Provides patient education and symptom management support. Participates in community health promotion and awareness programs. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Required: California active RN license Associate of Science Degree in Nursing Three (3) years of oncology nursing experience Preferred: Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) Ability to problem solving, decision-making and critical thinking; excellent organizational, written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills Work in a self directed environment and effectively handle multiple priorities. Knowledge of the American College of Surgeons (ACoS) Commission on Cancer (CoC) standards is preferred.
