Overview Job Duties Provides specialty medical services to patients within the scope of the supervising physician's medical specialty, and under the direction of the department director or division administrator. Assists with specific medical specialty and clinical operations, and counsels’ patients regarding their health. May perform minor procedures within the scope of the supervising physician specialty practice licensed to practice medicine in the State of Florida/Georgia. Clinical Area: The APP II position provides moderate to complex specialty care primarily in an outpatient setting. May perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in accordance with the particular specialty practice, which may occur in an outpatient setting, or procedural area during normal business hours. Responsibilities Essential Functions • Obtains patient histories, performs physical examinations and/or diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, for which they are qualified to perform by training, and which fall within the normal scope of the specialty practice of the supervising physician • Provides complex medical decision making in the treatment of patients consistent with their specialty practice to include providing consult service as appropriate •Interprets and evaluates diagnostic tests, records the data in the patient’s record/progress notes. Reviews, prescribes and/or recommends medications and treatments to patients • Assess patient health status including state of wellness, compliance with care plan and determines appropriate diagnostic and any therapeutic procedure required by their specialty. •Provides follow up for established patients where continuity of care is required along with timely and appropriate referrals to physician and pharmacist for patients in need of further medical care and services. • Instruct, educate and counsel patients/families regarding their healthcare to include illness or injury, therapeutic and diagnostic procedures and treatment regimens as well as routine health maintenance •Enters pertinent clinical information in the patient’s medical record in a timely and accurate manner and in accordance with established compliance billing guidelines. Job Details APP – NP or PA – Electrophysiology (EPS) Lab M-F 9A to 5P Outpatient focus only - Ambulatory Practice Job Summary: The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) in the Electrophysiology (EPS) Lab will collaborate with electrophysiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care for patients undergoing procedures in the EPS lab. This role will involve performing assessments, assisting in diagnostic procedures, providing preoperative and postoperative care, and ensuring continuous support for patients with arrhythmias. Key Responsibilities: Clinical Support: Perform comprehensive patient evaluations, including medical histories, physical exams, and pre-procedural assessments. Review and interpret patient diagnostic results, including ECGs, Holter monitors, and electrophysiology studies. Assist in the identification and management of arrhythmias, including atrial fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia, and atrial flutter. Provide education and counseling on lifestyle changes, medication management, and post-procedure care for patients with arrhythmias. Procedure Assistance: Assist electrophysiologists in performing procedures in the EPS lab, including catheter ablation, electrophysiological studies (EPS), and device implantation (pacemakers, ICDs). Prepare patients for procedures, ensuring proper consent, education, and comfort. Assist with monitoring patients during procedures, ensuring sterile technique and patient safety. Provide support during device implantation, lead placement, and post-procedural assessments. Patient Education and Follow-up Care: Educate patients on the nature of their arrhythmia, treatment options, and the importance of adherence to prescribed therapies. Provide patients with pre-procedural instructions and post-procedural recovery guidelines. Assist patients in understanding their device settings, troubleshooting, and the importance of regular check-ups. Collaboration & Communication: Collaborate with the electrophysiology team, cardiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care for patients.
