Work with other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure patients receive comprehensive education and proper resources tailored to their care needs. Lab Testing and Result Management: Analyze and interpret laboratory reports related to patients' oncology status, ensuring timely communication of findings to the healthcare team. Monitor pertinent lab results to assess patients' eligibility and qualification for specific therapies, collaborating with the provider to adjust treatment plans accordingly. Maintain certifications on all lab equipment to perform Point-of-Care (POC) testing for quick turnaround of CBCs, INRs, urinalysis testing, and blood glucose testing. Demonstrate expertise in conducting POC testing, ensuring accuracy and reliability of results for immediate clinical decision-making. Uphold quality control measures and adhere to regulatory standards in performing POC testing. Documentation and Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, documenting infusion therapy details, vital signs, nursing assessments, and interventions. Ensure adherence to documentation standards and regulatory requirements. Patient Care:Identifies opportunities to improve patient care based on feedback from staff and customers. Interviews and advises patients regarding health and illness prevention. Recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs. Monitors quality of core process in department. Technical Competency: Interprets and integrates data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures needed. Obtains complete history and physical data on patients. Reviews patient records. Performs a complete physical exam and records findings. Establishes presumptive diagnosis. Orders appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures. Synthesizes data to determine preliminary diagnosis and therapeutic plan utilizing principles of prevention. Provides care that is appropriate for specific age groups. You may float to units such as medical, surgical, telemetry, step down, neuroscience, cardiac, trauma, orthopedic, oncology, post anesthesia care, short stay, as well as potentially to critical care and the emergency department, based on clinical competencies. Working with the multidisciplinary team of nurses, providers and patient care staff on each unit, you will implement a care plan to meet each patient’s needs. You will monitor, record and communicate patient conditions as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems. As a part of the clinical team of the unit to which you have floated, you will coordinate patient discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team. When dealing with patients, visitors, co-workers and other customers, you will maintain cultural and diversity awareness, and much more. What qualifications you will need: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (BSN preferred). Current Registered Nurse License in Virginia or Current Multistate Compact License. Minimum 2 years of nursing experience in an acute care hospital setting. Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS).
