POSITION SUMMARY The Associate Nurse Manager ensures expert nursing care delivery supporting staff education, achievement of quality outcomes, evidence-based clinical practice, and leadership. JOB DESCRIPTION " POSITION SUMMARY The RN Utilization Management is responsible for the overall Utilization Management process for assigned patient population. This includes reviewing clinical information to determine the appropriate level of care assignment, along with the completion and submission of reviews to insurance payers with appropriate follow-up. The RN u tilizes Evidenced Based ""MCG"" criteria/guidelines and other approved Atlanticare applications to assess and document the medical necessity and appropriate patient status/level of care determination. This position a nalyzes clinical information received to facilitate authorization from insurance providers, maximize reimbursement by preventing denials, and ensures clinical data is sufficient to obtain an authorization. The RN works closely with Physician Advisors (PAs) to confirm that status and level-of-care mismatches, along with provider documentation concerns, are thoroughly reviewed and addressed, including follow-up on final decisions and peer-to-peer discussion outcomes as required. This position ensures that the obligation for clinical review is met according to the payer contracts and validates the accuracy of insurance information in the system. The RN is knowledgeable of the payer contracting arrangements, admission notification and clinical review requirements, as well as the regulatory and compliance requirements for government payers regarding clinical reviews and medical necessity. This role ensures that appropriate and accurate information is placed into the patient accounting system to result in clean, compliant, and timely claim processing. This role also provides notification of denial issues and potential avoidance of a denial, along with changes in insurance information to all appropriate areas (e.g. clinical team, Patient Accounting). Overview Responsible for clinical duties such as taking vital signs, giving injections, performing simple diagnostic tests, collecting specimens, drawing blood, sterilizing and cleaning equipment, and maintaining examination rooms at an outpatient care site. Responsibilities Greets, checks in patients, and notifies appropriate provider. Prepares patient, room and equipment for procedures and exams. Takes and records vital signs. Informs provider of patient vital signs and concerns. Recognizes and treats emergency patients as a priority, assists with patient examinations and treatments. Handles patient situations over the phone, schedules appointments and procedures with medical professionals. Understands limitations in dealing with patients over the phone, and involves nursing staff and providers. Register new patients and establishes a medical record. Prepares patient billings. Assists patients by filling out insurance and other forms. Supplies authorized information upon request by third party payors. Instructs patients in preparation for specific procedures. Collects and processes routine laboratory specimen. Operates and maintains clinical equipment. Maintains and uses aseptic technique including sterilization, disinfection and disposal of contaminated material. Cleans, wraps and autoclaves instruments. Cares for supplies and equipment. Performs other duties as required or assigned. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program required American Association Medical Assistants (AAMA) certified - CMA designation OR American Medical Technologists (AMT) registered – RMA designation OR Certified Clinical Medical Assistant plus 12 month D-H apprenticeship program – CCMA designation. Previous experience in office or outpatient ambulatory care setting strongly preferred.
