Lancaster General Health is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our team! Each day our Emergency Department treats 300 to 400 patients with chronic and acute issues, ruling out life threatening conditions and intervening when necessary to stop the progression of acute processes. The team sees everything from sore throats, ear infections, lacerations and broken bones to more serious conditions like stroke, heart attack, cardiac arrest, and traumatic injuries from motor vehicle and farming accidents, gunshot wounds and stabbings. Lancaster General Hospital, a Level I-accredited Trauma Center, recently completed a major expansion and remodel of the ED that nearly doubled the size of the department, from 63 beds to 95 beds. This includes 10 beds in our updated and expanded behavioral health unit, and 13 dedicated pediatric beds. These services are all APP-staffed services which each have the support of a Hematology/Oncology Fellow and Hematology/Oncology Attending. At night, the APP will be responsible for managing established inpatients and admitting patients appropriate for the services. The APP will be trained to manage oncologic emergencies such as neutropenic fever, tumor lysis syndrome, and cytokine release syndrome. The APP will always have the fellow and attending as resources, although they will not be in house at night. Optimal staffing at night is 2-3 APPs covering all three services per night.
