Staff on this unit are highly proficient in pre-operative and intra-operative support as well as immediate post-operative phases of cardiovascular procedures. The Christ Hospital is a teaching facility which allows the staff to work closely with the medical residents in the MICU and provides an opportunity for new nurses to receive specialized training in the Critical Care Nurse Residency Program. The MICU and SICU share primary responsibility for the Rapid Response Team (the STAT Team) and respond to calls throughout the hospital. The MICU RNs strive to utilize technology and evidence-based practice to provide compassionate and efficient care to achieve best possible outcomes for patients. SICU : The Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) is a 12-bed unit. This unit serves adult and, occasionally, adolescent patients. A licensed professional nurse under the supervision of a Registered Nurse who provides nursing care and services to residents in a long-term care setting.
