Summary GENERAL SUMMARY The Medical Assistant is a multi-skilled individual that works in a healthcare setting to support the non-clinical and clinical functions of the service area. Functions within the Medical Assistant scope of practice and under the direction and continuous supervision of a licensed healthcare provider (MD, NP, RN, LPN) during performance of uncomplicated clinical services and tasks. Reports to department leadership. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Provides safe and effective delivery of uncomplicated clinical services and tasks within the Medical Assistant scope of practice only and under the direction and continuous supervision of a licensed health care provider. Provides appropriate clinical and non-clinical information to facilitate visit process. Maintains sterility and cleanliness of the environment. Maintains supplies, equipment and instruments. Supports and performs clerical functions as needed. Performs other duties as assigned. LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS Required Licenses and/or Certifications CPR training required and/or must be obtained within 45 days of hire. Must provide record of a completed diploma (or equivalent) or academic transcript for those areas performing complexity testing. Preferred Licenses and/or Certifications Current registration/certification as a Medical Assistant or military medical experience preferred. MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Required Education and Experience Successful completion of an accredited medical assistant program or a recognized medical assistant certification. Preferred Education and Experience One to two years of experience in a related healthcare field preferred.
