The Certified Surgical Technologist participates in the delivery of individualized peri-operative registered nursing care under the supervision and guidance of a licensed physician or a registered professional nurse. Collaborates with other members of the healthcare team to assure quality patient care. The Certified Surgical Technologist Establishes and maintains a sterile field and assures team maintains a sterile environment. Correctly and safely passes instruments to clinician. Participants in surgical counts (sponge, needle and instruments), per policy. Communicates with surgeons, gastroenterologists, anesthesiologists, other necessary staff and patients to facilitate continuity of care. What We Require: Education: High school graduate or equivalent required. Successfully completed an accredited surgical technologist training program and holds a current credential as a certified surgical technologist from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting or its successor. Or, has successfully completed a training program for surgical technology during the person's service as a member of any branch of the armed forces of the United States. Experience: None Licensure, certification, and/or registration: Certification in Surgical Technology required. LPN licensure required for grandfathered employees.
