DEFINITION/PRIMARY FUNCTIONS Registered Nurse is the designation given to an individual who is licensed to practice professional nursing, holds ultimate responsibility for direct and indirect nursing care, is a graduate of an approved school for professional nursing, and is currently licensed as a Registered Nurse pursuant to M.G.L. c.112. Overview The Registered Nurse (RN) in Interventional Radiology (IR) provides nursing care to scheduled inpatient, outpatient, routine, emergent, and trauma patients needing an interventional procedure using imaging equipment in a dedicated aseptic radiology environment. The IR nurse utilizes the nursing process and the standards of care of a professional nurse and functions as a team member with technologists, anesthesia providers, and proceduralist MDs. The RN is expected to perform all staff nurse activities in the pre-op, procedural and post-op phases of care. The IR nurse is expected to administer moderate sedation. The RN functions as Charge Nurse when assigned. The RN maintains overall accountability/responsibility for assigned patients, even though some activities /tasks may be delegated to ancillary support staff. This role ensures seamless coverage, continuity of care, and strong clinical management for patients and families during nights, weekends, and on-call hours. Primary territory will be Bristol, Roan Mountain, Mountain City and Elizabethton area. About the Role The Afterhours Care Manager RN is responsible for assessing and coordinating patient and family needs during after-hours shifts and maintaining primary clinical oversight for assigned patients. This includes routine visits, admissions, death visits, urgent after-hours calls, and any visit assigned per the patient’s plan of care. This role serves as an active member of the Interdisciplinary Group (IDG) to ensure coordination between physicians, families, and the hospice team. Clinical administrative responsibilities, workflow auditing, and survey readiness support are also part of this role. Essential Functions Ensure appropriate delivery of hospice services to eligible patients and families.
