There are no hearts or lungs. CRNAs function independently to provide labor epidurals on a designated labor and delivery tract. Responsibilities: 1. Performs pre-anesthetic evaluations on patients utilizing established guidelines and administers appropriate pre-operative medications. Consults with physicians as appropriate. Ensures that any patient/family questions or concerns are satisfactorily addressed. 2. Verifies patient identity and correct procedure(s). Checks for appropriate physical status for anesthesia/analgesia, following through as warranted. 3. Ensures that anesthesia machine, breathing circuits, monitoring equipment, suction devices and all other equipment that will be used is fully operational, in advance of scheduled time for procedure. Ensures availability of backup and emergency drugs on anesthesia cart, to include necessary equipment for their administration. 4. Appropriately establishes and secures intravenous/intra-arterial lines, applies appropriate monitors based on patient needs and procedural requirements. 5. Induces and maintains inhalation, intravenous, local, regional and topical anesthesia commensurate with commonly used anesthetics and techniques, constantly monitoring drug effects and altering dosage to maintain optimal physiological function consistent with patient well-being, safety and procedural goals. A few responsibilities of our Anesthesia Technician include: Provides the operating room staff, surgeons, and anesthesia personnel with the necessary supplies and equipment for the surgical procedures Ensures utilized equipment (included but not limited to: glidescope/bronchoscope/difficult intubation equipment) is appropriately cleaned, stored and in proper working order prior to use. Submits work orders in a timely manner for needed maintenance/repairs. Schedules preventative maintenance as required and follows up on completion. Performs 1st level testing and maintenance on anesthesia equipment Trouble shoots issues with anesthesia machines and other anesthesia equipment Maintains designated par levels of anesthesia supplies and ensures carts are stocked with immediate use items used for operative procedures.
