Senior Registered Nurse - Neonatal ICU

Location: Main Hospital Bldg - 4th Floor PRIMARY PURPOSE The RN is a licensed professional who uses the Parkland nursing professional practice model to coordinate patient care delivery, that focuses on a particular patient population(s)/specific health condition, by the health care team. Using the nursing process, the RN assesses the patient, identifies nursing diagnoses based on responses to health problems, develops and implements an individualized plan of care, and evaluates the patient's response. The RN utilizes knowledge of patient needs and the healthcare environment to assist patients to transition through the healthcare encounter without any preventable complications or delays. The RN delegates interventions to health care personnel based on the Texas Nursing Practice Act, each patient's condition and the competencies of the employee. MINIMUM SPECIFICATIONS Education Must be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing. Experience Must have two years of nursing experience in a level III or higher Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Prefer experience in an acute care setting. Certification/Registration/Licensure Must have current RN license or valid temporary permit with the Texas Board of Nursing or a valid Compact RN license. Must have current healthcare provider BLS Healthcare Provider certification from one of the following: American Heart Association American Red Cross Military Training Network. Must have Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification on hire or reclassification into the role. May be required to have additional specialty certifications. Skills or Special Abilities Provides care to assigned patient population in accordance with the current State of Texas Nursing Practice Act, established protocols, multidisciplinary plan of care, and clinical area specific standards. Compensation for the positions below is based on market and experience including those with active certification or licensure. Licenses & Certifications and Educational Requirements Medical Assistant (MA): Education : High school diploma (or GED) required plus one of the following : Completion of an MA program, or Completion of an EMT-Basic course, or Trained on the job MA AND one year experience in health care, or Completion of an MA Apprentice program Certification : American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Providers (BLS) or an AHA approved equivalent required within 90 days of hire. Experience : 1 year of healthcare experience preferred . Medical Assistant Senior (MA Sr): Education : HS Diploma or GED is required . Certification : American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Providers (BLS) or an AHA approved equivalent is required within 90 days of hire. Additionally, one of the following is required : Military Medic/Corpsman training ( must also obtain one of the certifications or licenses below within 6 months of hire ), or Certified/Registered Medical Assistant through one of the following: Credentialed in ABR-OE (Assessment-Based Recognition in Order Entry), or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), or NRCMA - Medical Assistant through the National Association for Health Professionals, or CCMA Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, or Certified Medical Assistant through the National Phlebotomy Certification Examination (NPCE) Certified Paramedic, or Advanced EMT, or Graduated from an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) program and current active LPN license, or Other certification from an approved body as maintained by Froedtert Human Resources Experience : 1 year of experience as medical assistant or in the field of the credential held is required .
