A Brief Overview The Registered Nurse (RN) – Cardiovascular is responsible for the provision of nursing services based on standards of care and professional nursing practice prescribed in nursing education, TH orientation and education as well as TH policy and protocol. The Cardiovascular RN provides direct nursing care to both in and out-patients during cardiac stress testing, transesophageal echocardiograms, tilt table tests, electrical cardioversion, and other procedures performed in the Cardiology Service Line. The Cardiovascular RN utilizes a high level of knowledge of cardiac or chemical stress testing and effectively communicates issues with physicians. The RN will interpret data received before the procedure and use nursing judgment that is in line with safety protocols. The Cardiac Nurse must be self-directed and act independently and intervene as appropriate to resolve issues. The Cardiovascular RN is responsible for implementing the philosophy, objectives, standards of care, policies, and procedures of Cardiac Services under the supervision of the Cardiologist.
