Job Description MH: ED Surge-(Full Time, Nights) - ***This position may be eligible for a sign-on bonus of up to a $9000.*** Job Summary: The Clinical Nurse B- Flexible Integrated Team (FIT) is part of Loma Linda University Medical Center-Murrieta (LLUMC-Murrieta) float pool. The FIT nurse functions out of a home department and reassigns to a LLUMC-Murrieta patient care department where additional staffing is needed to cover sick calls, vacations, federal and state legislative leaves or vacancies. Exhibits flexibility and readily accepts assignments where needed. Utilizes discretion and independent judgment to prioritize, coordinate, provide and document direct and indirect age-specific and developmentally appropriate quality patient- centered care in a fast-paced environment. Performs the nursing process (assessment, care planning, intervention, evaluation) with minimal supervision and in accordance with established Professional Practice Model (Duffy's Quality Caring Theory) to achieve proficient individualized physical, psychosocial and spiritual wellness and provide compassionate bereavement support as appropriate. Functions in a skills mix environment and delegates tasks to unlicensed staff in accordance with scope of practice. Applies theoretical concepts to clinical practice and exhibits self-motivation to continually expand knowledge base and clinical skills with a focus in area of specialty. Meets qualifications, licensure, certifications, competencies and staffing requirements as defined by department’s Plan for Providing Care (PPC). Exhibits refined interpersonal skills that portray professionalism and maximize excellence in customer service and safe patient care. Education and Experience: Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) required. Participates in the identification and clarification of patient needs, as evidenced by participation in multidisciplinary care planning, to achieve optimal patient outcomes. 20. Reviews and revises plan of care and treatment plan according to patient’s status. 21. Completes patient classification for assigned patients as required. 22. Incorporates patient teaching/discharge planning to promote optimal patient outcomes. 23. Provides, evaluates retention of, and documents education to the patient/family/significant other according to organizational standards. 24. Coordinates and documents appropriate discharge planning and referrals to ensure continuity of care after discharge. 25. Provides pre-operative and post-operative teaching on all new surgical patient, if applicable. 26. Sees patients independently under Nurse Visit Only, those on infusion/active treatments, for pre-op surgical consent review, for post-op voiding trials, wound care and staple removal, if applicable. 27. Recognizes, accepts responsibility for, and maintains commitment to professional development and clinical competency. 28. Attends required professional development sessions and staff meetings. If unable to attend, review minutes or discuss proceedings of meetings with peers or managers. 29. Identifies personal knowledge deficits and seeks resources/consultation to ensure safe patient care. 30. Utilizes all channels of communication including reading organizational email at least once a week, to obtain knowledge, transmit information, address concerns, and solve problems. 31. Embraces change and continuously identifies opportunities for improvement by demonstrating a commitment to utilizing evidence-based practice. 32. Articulates knowledge and actively participates in nursing practice quality initiatives. 33. Incorporates performance improvement recommendations into daily practice. 34. Accepts accountability and participates in problem-solving issues related to quality patient care outcomes. 35. Complies with divisional and unit specific matrices. 36. Triages patient calls and symptoms as needed. 37. Provides home based care teaching as needed. 38. Performs other duties as assigned.
